Ok this was from a local B&M here in St. Louis(Hi Fi Fo Fum). They were having a once a year sale!!!
4 Paradigm 20L V.2 299 each
1 Paradigm CC V.2 419
1 Denon 3802 829
Also, I have the option of upgrading all 4 20's to 40's for a total of 320.
LMK guys, I have to admit I am pretty excited as this will be my first nice speaker system(well...nice for me :P )
For the moment I will be sticking w/my old JBL sub, so thats why I didn'y buy one of those! :)

Heh, getting feedback out of you guys is like pulling teeth.
If I got ripped, don't be shy. I have plenty of time to take them back. :)
As a side note, I looked at B&W's DM602 and LCR 60 in addition to a small Boston Acoustic tiny monitor setup. It seemed to me that the Paradigm sounded much better, and they were a little beat cheaper then the DM 602's(well after the sale price they were cheaper). So, while I am a newbie, I didn't but the first fish that jumped into my pan :)
Another question as well, I looked at a pioneer ctx45(I am sure it is a 45...but the letters may be transposed) and it was THX certified. The guy was selling at for 1099 I believe. I felt the Denon sounded better(to me :P), but would it have been worth it to have bought the pioneer instead?

I assume that $299 each means each speaker ($598 a
pair)?

You need to give us more information about the studio
20's finish, i.e. black laminate, rosewood veneer,
cherry, etc. The black ash laminate studio 20's list for
about $600 a pair so $598 is nothing special. However
if it is one of the more expensive finishes then it may
be a good deal.

1 Paradigm CC V.2 419

I think that list price for the studio center is $500
so you are getting a 16% discount. About as good a deal
as you can expect on this center.

1 Denon 3802 829

The 3802 is a fine receiver. I think the list price on
it is around $1000 so $829 is a decent price. However
the newer 3803's are now out so this is old stock that
the dealer needed to dump so I would have tried to
negotiate the price down a little more. But you still
got a good receiver at a fair price.

Nope, they are the black wood(laminate?) finish :)
So, overall a decent deal but nothing special? I can live with that.I have a fairly small living room, maybe 14 by 10 or so. There is a large open space on the left side of my setup as such:
couch........couch 2' Sub
o Front L
u t
c v
h Front Right
Wallllllllll..PatioDoor....Wall
In addition I live in an apartment and thusly will probably never play my system(which is 100% for home theater) at or even close to reference level. So, how much benefit would I derive from upgrading to the 40's? Also, once again considering the size of room/handicap on volume would I see any drastic difference in bass by upgrading? My current sub is a JBL PSW D110 powered sub.
Thanks for the feedback barry!

Well you got a decent deal on the center and $829 for the 3802 is OK. But I'm not sure why the dealer considers $598 a pair for black laminate as a sale because I'm pretty sure that is list price.

When I bought my studio 20's I A/B'd them with the studio
40's. Bear in mind that speaker sound is very
subjective but I did not hear enough of a difference to
spend the extra money on the 40's and opted to use the
cost difference to put toward an SVS subwoofer.

I don't know anything about your sub so I can't offer a constructive opinion but if you think you'll want to upgrade then I would stick with the 20's and use the $320 toward a sub purchase.

my friend got this from a local dealer in the bay area.
Paid 1785 out the door.

Paradigm studio 40 V.2
Paradigm Studio 20 V.2
Studio CC

All black ash laminate

He also got the premeire stands J50 and J60 for 300 out the door. The J50 had a small unoticeable dent on the leg.

I thought that was a very fair deal for someone that only has one dealer in the area.
