I got a chance to listen to John's sub and it is killer. I'm not surprised that it's an Ultra equivalent driver. We watched some demo material and The Island, totally saturated with bass. It really didn't strike me how much more extention I was hearing until I got home and fired up my two subs in a smaller room. Also, hidden or not, it's a monster.
I picked up a 20-39+ this week myself this week (hidden behind the EC in the corner). I can't say that I'm used to the look or the size, but the sound coming out of the tubes is unbelievably clean.
Sounds like a killer sub... I have just been getting into subs more lately. Have had bought my share of subs over the years, currently have an SVS PB12 Ultra and 2 UFW10's from AV123 which do fine. I am interested in building one though just for something to do and to say I actually built something for my system. Where do you start in learning how to do this. Like the sub you just picked up.. Shurley he had to start from a plan somewhere, get your parts from a place like Parts Express and then get the stuff togethere which does not seem all that difficult. If I did something though I would want it to be breathtaking in air movement for those action sceens. Any body have any suggestions for me? Thanks Mike
The sonotube links page seems to have disappeared so you can't use that. I did a fairly detailed job of out lining the two subs I've built on my webpage. Some searches and reading in the DIY section of this forum will turn up many more project pages and all the information you need to build a sub.
