Funny thing, is that this show did not register on my radar until I saw an ad for it, while traveling in Europe. I decided to check it out, and surprisingly, I find it enjoyable and addictive. Hard to believe that, considering the name of the show and the fact that it's on MTV, a network that I have not watched since the days of Beavis & Butt-Head.

I did wonder if the name of the show would hold it back, but from the fact that it got a 2nd season, it didn't. Except for a few things, this show is really different from the movie (which I never seen in its entirety) or the cartoon series (which I did watch).

About 5 episodes in, and the tough part is trying to limit 1 episode per day. I do wonder about Jackson, and how his wounds (caused by Derek's claws) did not heal right away. I assume it will be answered in a later episode.

ETA - And I did not read the latter half of this thread to not be spoiled.

After missing most of the first season, I decided to catch the premiere last night after the MTV Movie Awards since it's slim pickings during the summer. During the first half I was convinced I was watching a softcore porn flick from late night Cinemax. It went from a mostly naked guy exploding out of a lake to two teenagers wrapped around each other on (and around) a bed to a naked chick taking a shower.

Heh. This started up new yesterday, with a second episode airing tonight.

Yeah, I know that. But I am still behind, as I just got a hold of the 1st season on DVD, which came out a few weeks ago. Besides, I thought the 2nd season would get its own thread.

Just putting the info out there just in case. I'm not sure there are enough of us watching for a new thread, but maybe.

Do the Argents have superpowers? That girl is crazy good with the bow and arrow, and presumably there's a reason the hunters don't get all gobbled up. And are we supposed to know what the lizard things are?

^ Those were serious questions, if anybody has the answer.
Three hours in, and it looks like I'm along for the ride. Scott's girlfriend has to have the most screwed up family on the planet.

It does seem that way. Probably part of their genetic code, sort of an anti-werewolf creature (if that makes any sense). Just like with the Alpha from last season, I guess we will know more about the lizard creature as this season goes along, as I am just 2 episodes in this season. Hopefully, I will watch the 3rd one soon.

Also, interesting take on the werewolf mythology, where not all that are bitten by werewolf, necessarily become one, as in the case of Jackson. And probably Lydia as well, though there is still the part of the time she disappeared for a few days.

While not one of the best shows out there, it certainly fits the definition of guilty pleasure, and has become a must-see for me, as I find it very addictive.

And I like the intro and theme music, which I am a bit surprised, was added in the 2nd season, as oppose to in the 1st season.

Michael Hogan makes everything better.
They've been making it so obvious that the reptilian creature is Lydia, that I have to believe it's not Lydia.

Just like with the Alpha, that Lizard creature has to be one of those minor characters that we have probably have seen already, and has a liking to Stiles. And like last season, let's hope we don't have to wait until the end of the season to see who it is.

And that quickly, Gerard Argent quickly figuring out what Scott is. I do wonder how much longer until Scott's mom finds out about his son being a werewolf.

Issac: I got about a 100 bones that need a few hours to heal.
Derek: 101 (twisting Issac's arm).

Jackson's such a vile character. Was he seeing a reflection in that car at the end or was there another lizard dude inside? If the latter, we were supposed to think of the science teacher, as he quoted Einstein and the car had an Einstein sticker.

It was a gloved hand. The beastiary said that the Kanima seeks a friend, so I'm guessing whoever was in that car fits the bill, possibly another one -- I'm guessing the guidance counselor. Glad Jackson turned out to be the creature; it was ballsier than having it be a minor character and Jackson deserves whatever he gets.
I enjoyed Scott's "pack" outsmarting Derek's pack. Allison's trick with the arrow was a neat bit.
I'm wondering what Lydia's deal is. Not only was she seemingly immune to the werewolf bite, but she was immune to the Kanima venom, too.

Renewed for a third season, twice as big as the current. I believe the showrunner has said that it will be treated as two big arcs, so they aren't just padding out what would have been a 13 episode story.

Great news! This has become a real guilty pleasure for me. I like that they're essentially another Scooby Gang now, each with their own special talents that they bring to the table.

Wow. I'll say the show definitely has balls. Normally the obstacles that keep the central will-they-won't-they couples on shows like this feel artificial and contrived. This is one HUGE obstacle that will have lasting consequences no matter what way it turns out. That's what happens when your potential mother-in-law is a werewolf-hunting psychopath.
Interesting that the creepy guidance counselor shares the benevolent veterinarian's mysterious understanding of the larger scope of things. Also interesting seeing Stiles do magic. I like that Derek's pack is starting to respect Stiles now, too.
Is there any way the science teacher is NOT the one controlling the Kanima?

Does mom go werewolf now? I was hoping she'd be offed. Another wholly unlikeable character. Becoming what she hates would be her just desserts.

I'm hoping Allison finds out the truth about the circumstances surrounding her mother's bite sooner rather than later. Unfortunately with only two episodes left I have a feeling it won't be until the finale.

I liked the opening with Stiles. Very dramatic and character expanding. I need goofball characters to show a serious side once in a while. He was kind of hinting at gaining powers, which I hope he doesn't do. Too many have gained them, and he is kind of the Everyman character for the audience. I also don't think there's much danger he was killed, because I imagine he's too popular. We're supposed to think he's in the clutches of grandpa, but the guidance counselor might have rescued him.
I'm not liking Allison much at all right now. I hope she comes back to the good side.

I've really enjoyed the stuff between Stiles and his dad this season. In the first season it was just the dad sighing at him or rolling his eyes at him. This season you really get that single parent dynamic with them where you understand that since Stiles's mom died it's been them together against the world. I also think that he's the smartest character on the show, not as book smart as Lydia, but he's the one that figures stuff out while Scott is being a lovable moron and Allison is listening to her toxic and insanely destructive family.

I agree. He might have been captured by the bad guys or he might have been rescued by someone else. But you kill Stiles, you kill the show. If I had to guess, I'd say he's been captured because I think Lydia will have to make a choice between her abused love for Jackson and her growing fondness for Stiles. If she's not involved in the finale, her entire role this season will have been a waste of time, and I'll have wished they hadn't killed Peter in the first place so that Lydia wasn't wasted for so long bringing him back.
I'm not liking Allison much at all right now. I hope she comes back to the good side.
I was happy to see her father be the one to pull her back from the brink. Chris is clearly under the thumb of Gerard, but he also clearly doesn't agree with Gerard's actions or methods. He appreciates the Code, and knows only too well that Allison is a teenage girl aching from the loss of her mother. I'm guessing there's going to be a moment in the finale where Scott confronts her and tells her what her mother was doing when Derek bit her. And Allison will have to choose whether to believe Scott, even though it will ruin her opinion of her recently deceased mother and make her own recent actions horrifying, or continue down the dark road with Gerard.
I would really like to see Gerard cut in half the way he's always cutting undeserving people in half.

I enjoy the original movie, even though it is terrible. I always liked Stiles, but TV Stiles is far superior. I wouldn't mind a scene where he confronts his dad about what he "saw" when he drank the fear serum at the party, but I think we know his fears are groundless. He took the loss of his job without putting it on Stiles, and he was extremely proud of Stiles in the lacrosse game. Sometimes you can't see things that are obvious to those on the outside.
Scott's mom's acceptance was a little abrupt. I don't think I could been held aloft by a lizard man and just show up at a game like things are basically normal. I'd have liked to have seen a scene between those two, which may happen if there's time. I guess it isn't really necessary at this point.
I think all that went down with his wife has changed Chris. Does he really want to see his teenaged daughter gone down that road? He'll probably be the difference in the finale.
So, Monday is the last of the season?
