What's better confirmation than someone running the final release on final hardware?

All that thread has is a guy claiming that he has been playing the game for 4 months and it doesn't support WS...sorry but that just don't cut it for me. I need more than that to start getting upset about it. It could very well be true, but I won't be convinced until the game is playing on my Xbox and on my TV.

Funny how when you don't know somebody, they are just 'some guy'. :)
Discussion among senior members of AVS is a no-bullshit zone. The person you assail is a HIGHLY respected member of the online Home Theater community.
It's over. The game does not support widescreen. It's not the end of the world.

The IGN Insider review of HALO claims there is a widescreen option. According to this snippet:
"Situational First and Third Person perspectives.
Role-based, cooperative multiplayer team game
Play story mode as a single player or cooperatively with another player.
Choose from a variety of conventional human and powerful alien weaponry
Vehicles include marine jeeps and tanks to alien flyers and hovercrafts.
Squad based combat.
Enjoy the action with 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound and Widescreen playback features."
As someone above said, the 15th will be definite confirmation.

I was referring to Mr. Camp, who's playing a final, retail version of "Halo" on a final, retail version of the XBox hardware...

Your right, I don't know anything about this guy. The 4 months thing really bothers me. This means that he is playing a non-gold version of the game and that there is still a chance he hasn't seen the final version of the game. I guess the kiddy game forums have corrupted me a bit, the last thread I saw there was that an Xbox started on fire in the store (yeah, right)...seems like every five minutes there's someone new spouting BS. And I completely agree with you, its not the end of the world. Halo will look stunning anyway.
Camp hasn't gotten his HDTV pack yet so its impossible to tell if the game is hiding an option menu or not seeing that it does detect if the pack is attached or not.

Well Camp I'm in the complete opposite position as you...no Xbox and have the HDTV pack. I think you have the better deal :)
I also checked with a contact I have and confirmed that Halo is indeed 480P 4:3 only. What can I say, I'm disappointed...but I'm sure I'll get over it when I fire the baby up on my TV.
