I recently purchased the 2-disc soundtrack to White Fang. Each disc is a complete soundtrack composed by two great soundtrack composers - Basil Poledouris and Hans Zimmer. Both sound great. For the movie, the producers used some of the cues from both of the composers.

I personally would consider John Williams the greatest, but Goldsmith ranks a likely # 2 (tie between him and Bernard Herrmann).

I have been on a Jerry Goldsmith kick lately, tracking down some out of print scores that I, for some reason or another, failed to nab when they were initially released. I've picked up Congo, The River Wild, The Haunting and Deep Rising over the last few weeks, and have enjoyed each of them. Though not from his golden period, they still stand tall in my opinion.

I am waiting for his rejected score for 2 Days in the Valley to arrive shortly and am excited about it.

I think fans of scores are still feeling his loss!

Los Angeles 1937 seems quite interesting, but the main theme they posted sounds like a band informally warming up. Is that an audio mistake or ..... art?

I just got the soundtracks to SPACE: ABOVE & BEYOND and the overpriced, short-lived TV series TERRA NOVA. One good thing about cancelled TV shows is that good scores often result from them, scores I enjoy for many years after the enjoyment of the show has diminished.
