Didn't Capitol just last year release a big 4 disc box set of the first US albums? In both mono and stereo, and reputed to sound pretty good, too IIRC.

I certainly listen to the Beatles on my iPod all the time (as I am sure does anyone who owns Beatles CDs and an iPod) -- or maybe you are confusing it with the iTunes music store...

I suspect that any re-masters are up to McCartney, Starr, Harrison's & Lennon's heirs, and George Martin, who was involved with the original CD remasters as well as the The Beatles Anthology DVDs. Even if Capitol/EMI could do something without the approval of The Beatles I seriously doubt that they would.
