It'll be fantastic to see the remaining 9 Inside... documentaries remastered for HD. Not to mention all the other great documentaries on stunts, effects, etc...

Hopefully the extra hour of never-before-seen stuff has John Cork's seal of approval. If so, it'll be superb.

Why am I not surprised by this.

So those of us who supported (inadvertently in my case as purchasing titles is a purely selfish endeavor) the previous releases get burned by having to buy the same movies over (if we want the new to BD titles) and the indifferent fence sitters (those responsible for the poor sales of the previous releases) benefit.

This is why I'm slowly starting to really hate this hobby.

    Jim,

I sympathize with you. Those of us who remained committed to buying
the MGM Bond releases are essentially being given the royal screw.

It seems that fans are quickly unloading their current Bond Blu-rays.

Last night I looked into trading my current 13 Bond Blu-rays (including
Sony release of Casino Royale) on Amazon. I could have gotten just
under $10 for each title. I decided to wait till this morning to compile all
    my releases.

This morning, I can only get an average of $5 per title. When all is said
and done, my trade-ins of 13 titles came to a $70 Amazon credit towards
the purchase of the Bond 50 set.

Pretty sad, and really, I'm grinding my teeth over the fact that I am being
forced to take this route when the studio isn't making the remaining titles
    available as solo releases.

I think Richard-W's idea of buying it off the Amazon Marketplace so MGM gets nothing directly from him is the best move. The price is right (and that should take some of the sting out of being forced to buy the same thing again) but I have no intention of buying this release since the fans are being screwed by a greedy company who clearly don't care about the people who actually supported the first releases.

I will simply wait for singles. I only want OHMSS, The Living Daylights and Goldeneye of the remaining titles. I am not a Bond completist, and never intended to buy them all in the first place; let alone buy titles (most of Moore's and Brosnan's) that I do not intend to watch again. I'm sure they will eventually be released as singles.
If the bottom drops out on the price, I might go for it. The current price is really pretty good if I wanted them all. I would just rather spend the $ on stuff I don't have, rather than repurchase titles I already bought on at least three formats.

Is there any reason to think there won't be single releases at some point?

Based on MGM/Fox's previous history, we can expect individual releases about a year after the box set debuts.

A year after the box-set debuts? The 9 unreleased titles have been delayed five-six years to correspond with the theatrical release of Bond 23 Skyfall. By coincidence, that falls on the 50th Anniversary of Dr No. More likely, individual titles will be released to co-incide with the next theatrical Bond film, Bond 24, in 2014 or 2015.

Even though I already own all the existing blus, I broke down and pre-ordered the UK set after realising that it would cost about $13 (per current exchange rates) for each of the nine unreleased titles.

MGM maybe, but not Fox? Still waiting on Cavalcade as an individual release along with the Elia Kazan titles that were in his collection that were never released individually. Did not buy either set because they had to many titles I already owned. The same with this set. I am happy with Blu-rays I have and the ones I don't have, well I have the DVD's and they are pretty good. I not hooked on it.

I have a mishmash of DVDs and Blu's in various packaging incarnations so I wouldn't mind one sleek box collecting all 22 films. My question is, will the "remaining 9" be completely restored by Lowry or are they just rehashing existing transfers?

Amazon UK won't let you pre-order things in US dollars, at least it won't for me and that is what the rules of their "currency converter" say. I just double checked by having both the Bond and Cleopatra, and there is no option to pay in USD. Which makes sense, because they could get burned on the exchange rate months in advance.

I'm just basing that on they're other blu-ray boxsets - the Hannibal Lector, Magnificent Seven and Man with No Name films all saw individual releases about a year after they're respective boxed sets came out.

All the films have had the Lowry treatment (some in 4K, some in 2K) and have been shown in HD on various movie channels over the past couple of years, so it's a safe bet that these will be the restored versions.
Hopefully, the framing and other issues with A View to a Kill and Goldeneye have finally been corrected.

Lowry worked on the Connery and the Moore films. I think it was felt that anything after that didn't require any work beyond basic dust removal. (which I believe Lowry did) But yes, unless MGM says something to the contrary, these would be the transfers from the Ultimate Edition DVDs, which is when Lowry did their work.

Have most of the current blu's, and the ultimate dvd's the image on the blu's I have are fine so I'll wait and pick up the rest when sold individualy, but I agree, to put out some of the blu's and stop and then come out with a whole new set only stinks, bad customer relations there.

Well to be fair the delay was clearly caused by MGM almost going under AGAIN! It makes sense from a marketing point to start fresh because of the long delay. They lost their momentum with the general public. However if they are smart, and listening, the single releases will follow the boxed set fairly quickly.

Not only did that former momentum get lost, there's probably no one there who still has any sense of continuity on the series, and can only envision "New Big Box".
