Watched it for the second time last night. First time was theatrical. All in all I enjoyed it but really, there is ZERO chemistry between Amy Adams and Henry Cavill. None. Adams is really wrong for the part IMO, and since this is arguably the most key relationship in the story of Superman I don't see how it can be fixed. Still don't like the design of Krypton or the level of destruction/collateral damage in the film but hey, it's SUPERMAN, and I love me some Superman.

The honest trailer was a hoot.

Completely agree. She'd be a perfect Lana Lang - looks the part, has a nice "girl next door" vibe - but she's right for the kind of hard-bitten, driven, cynical character Lois should be.

She's better than the too young/out of her league Kate Bosworth but still wrong for the role...

This movie has gotten better for me with each viewing. Had my third viewing on Thursday (first home viewing), and it was my most enjoyable experience with it yet. Still could have used a few "lighter moments", but is plays really well if you look at it as not a movie about "Superman" but a movie about Clark figuring out what to be and how to go about doing it.

I haven't seen the movie since it was in the theater in June, but I thought Amy Adams was great as Lois. A different take on the character, sure, but it wasn't that dissimilar to what has gone before. As much as I enjoyed Margot Kidder in the role, Lois shouldn't have that goofy, slapstick side to her character. Adams was convincing as an actual award-winning reporter. I still have to give Dana Delaney the nod as best Lois though.

Yes, zero chemistry. Also heavy handed, dark, ill-paced, and very not-fun. I hated this movie. I also love Superman, but I think 'Man Of Steel' is the worst representation of the character on screen(both big, and small). I think I'm done with Zack Snyder films altogether

The following domains were recently registered by WB, so it's possible one of them could be the title for the MOS sequel. Personally, I would use Man of Steel: Second Fiddle.http://whois.domaintools.com/battletheknight.comhttp://whois.domaintools.com/battletheknight.nethttp://whois.domaintools.com/battletheknightmovie.comhttp://whois.domaintools.com/battletheknightmovie.net http://whois.domaintools.com/beyonddarknessmovie.comhttp://whois.domaintools.com/beyonddarknessmovie.nethttp://whois.domaintools.com/blackofknight.comhttp://whois.domaintools.com/blackofknight.nethttp://whois.domaintools.com/darknessfallsmovie.com http://whois.domaintools.com/darknessfallsmovie.nethttp://whois.domaintools.com/knightfalls.com http://whois.domaintools.com/knightfalls.net http://whois.domaintools.com/knightfallsmovie.com http://whois.domaintools.com/knightfallsmovie.net http://whois.domaintools.com/manofsteelbattletheknight.com http://whois.domaintools.com/manofsteelbattletheknight.net http://whois.domaintools.com/manofsteelblackofknight.com http://whois.domaintools.com/manofsteelblackofknight.net http://whois.domaintools.com/manofsteeldarknessfalls.comhttp://whois.domaintools.com/manofsteeldarknessfalls.net http://whois.domaintools.com/manofsteelknightfalls.comhttp://whois.domaintools.com/manofsteelshadowofthenight.comhttp://whois.domaintools.com/manofsteelshadowofthenight.nethttp://whois.domaintools.com/manofsteeltheblackesthour.comhttp://whois.domaintools.com/manofsteeltheblackesthour.nethttp://whois.domaintools.com/manofsteelthedarknesswithin.comhttp://whois.domaintools.com/manofsteelthedarknesswithin.nethttp://whois.domaintools.com/shadowofthenightmovie.comhttp://whois.domaintools.com/shadowofthenightmovie.nethttp://whois.domaintools.com/theblackesthour.comhttp://whois.domaintools.com/theblackesthour.nethttp://whois.domaintools.com/theblackesthourmovie.comhttp://whois.domaintools.com/theblackesthourmovie.nethttp://whois.domaintools.com/thedarknesswithinmovie.comhttp://whois.domaintools.com/thedarknesswithinmovie.net

"Man of Steel: Battle the Knight" is actually a pretty cool title. But if they use the words "dark" or "knight" anywhere in the title, they will have a VERY hard time convincing people that this isn't connected to the Dark Knight Trilogy (which will be an uphill battle in any case).

Guess I don't know what a good Superman movie is like, because I sort of liked this one, which is more than I can say for any of its predecessors. About the only thing that took me out of the movie was all of the structurally damaged buildings falling over. I mean, after all, aren't buildings that are structurally damaged in random ways supposed to collapse by falling through their center of mass, rather than toppling over. This movie has totally f'd up physics showing buildings falling over rather than collapsing straight down into themselves. Didn't any of these guys learn anything about the physics of building collapses from witnessing 9/11?The complaints about collateral damage and Superman not saving everyone in this film perplexes me. How is he supposed to save everyone or avoid the collateral damage that occurs? It was a massive fight between two super-powered beings in the middle of a city. I think the film was honest enough to acknowledge that there was going to be a lot of innocent victims in circumstances like that. The guy is a Superman, not God; he wasn't going to be able to save everyone, no matter what he did. Also, it should be pointed out that the humans in the show had no problem in launching an attack against Zod and his minions, even though massive destruction and civilian casualties were a certainty given the locations the villains were in.

^ My problem isn't that he didn't save all the people, it's that he was way more focused on battling Zod than saving people. Yes, stopping Zod would end the threat in its tracks but I can't imagine any other incarnation of Superman (be it movies, TV or comic books) where he's more interested in fighting a foe than helping people in immediate danger.

Despite that complaint, I still like the movie.

Oh, I see what you mean, but a person would have to give it that Zod's attack on him was pretty relentless. There didn't seem to be any breaks where he could have have managed to save people while fending off the attack. Also, Zod was aware that S had a soft spot when it came to humans. I could imagine that if S had broken off the fight to save someone Zod would have used that opportunity to kill 10 for every one person that was saved. Frankly, one of the creepy things in the film was Pa Kent's talk with S after the bus rescue. I thought that was out of character as I could not imagine him ever saying to S that maybe he should have let a bus load of kids die in order to conceal his abilities. Pa Kent was always a standup guy in the comics and always expected him to do what was right, not convenient.Overall, I liked this film because the threat felt real, not comical like in most of the previous films, including the first one with its ludicrous conclusion.

This was a part of the story that I liked, until it made no sense.Superman is inexperienced and does not know how to fight. Zod is an elite warrior. How can Supes possibly win? This is so obvious that Zod actually ask this question!Change scene. Superman has won.WTF? The movie didn't answer the question. It asked it, then ignored it. The idea of Superman killing is spectacular and is of the present age. I'm not a comic book reader, but I understand that Alan Moore wrote a watershed comic series on just this event. The entire movie, the whole backstory, everything Jonathan Kent taught him was against this. There should be consequences. There were no consequences to this tremendous moment. MOS completely fails with its own theme.

After seeing MOS three times, as much as the incessant destruction at the end of the film bores me, my biggest gripe is far and away the character of Jonathan Kent. His message to his son is basically this:

Be very afraid of the world. Don't trust anybody. Your convenience is more important than the lives of other people.

What kind of a lousy father instills that into their kid? I teach my kids the exact opposite of that message, and as far as I know, not one them has incredible super powers.

If anyone hasn't done so, definitely read the Superman Birthright graphic novel. I don't necessarily lament Man of Steel not following Birthright's lead, but it does provide a richer origin story than both Man of Steel and the Reeve version. Specifically, it gets into why Clark would be cautious of revealing his true nature to the world and the rationale behind the costume and dual identity. It's quite well thought out.

Terrible article that I completely 100% absolutely disagree with. ;)I almost stopped reading when he said he watched it on DVD! But hey..to each his own. To me, this film needs to be seen on the biggest screen possible to truly evaluate its successes and failures. Seriously.....DVD??
