EcoFriendly, HighBrightness PhlatLight LEDs Power New LampFree Projector

Las Vegas, NV, Consumer Electronics Show, January 8, 2009 – Luminus Devices, Inc., today announced that Chi Lin Technology, a leading ODM/OEM manufacturer is bringing a new home theater projector to market based on the company’s PhlatLight® LED PT120 highperformance chipset.

The new home theater projector combines PhlatLight LEDs and Texas Instruments’ digital light processing (DLP®) technology to offer an expanded color gamut, incredible color and brightness stability and bestinclass reliability for home theater customers. The PhlatLight LED PT120 chipset is designed specifically for home theater projectors and contains a red, green and blue LED and offers instant start up without the warmup and cooldown period required by today’s conventional mercury lamp technologies. The new projector is built with an environmentally responsible design and the light source is expected to never need replacement.

“The home theater projector from Chi Lin offers consumers a wonderful viewing experience as the brightness, color gamut and overall reliability is unmatched,” said Matt Mazzuchi, General Manager, Projection Display Business Group, Luminus Devices. “The new LED projector is a culmination of dedicated work by Chi Lin designers, utilizing nextgeneration technologies such as PhlatLight LEDs in combination with DLP in an environmentally conscious design that made this bestinclass projector a reality.”

“Luminus continues to set even higher standards for brightness and color performance in LEDs and our new DLP home theater projector gives consumers a home theater viewing experience that no one else offers,” said Alex Wang, Senior Product Manager, Chi Lin Technology. “There are many components built into a home theater projector that improve performance and reliability for consumers, but none more important than PhlatLight LEDs.”

Luminus will be demonstrating the new Chi Lin home theater projector at CES, January 811, in their Suite #4118 inside the Las Vegas Hilton. EcoFriendly, HighBrightness PhlatLight LEDs Power New LampFree Projector

Las Vegas, NV, Consumer Electronics Show, January 8, 2009 – Luminus Devices, Inc., today announced its PhlatLight® LED chipset, the PT120, is the solid state light source inside the Delta Electronics, Inc., HT8000 the industry’s first full HD LEDbased digital light processing (DLP®) projector for the consumer market. The new projectors will be available in Q1 2009.

The new projector combines Luminus’ PhlatLight LEDs, Delta’s advanced optical engine technology, and Texas Instruments’ advanced DLP capability. In addition to having the highest levels of brightness, unmatched color and reliability, the combination of technologies in the HT8000 provides one of Delta’s customers Vivitek USA with a full HD home theater projector H6080FD that simply has to be seen to be believed.

“This new brightness breakthrough allows us to create lampfree projectors delivering dramatically improved picture quality and superior reliability,” said Jeff Fu, Director for Projection Display at Delta’s Display Solutions Business Unit. “With this product, we believe the era of the HD LED home theater projector has arrived. PhlatLight LEDs will continue to be a key component of our DLP product line.”

Designed to be ecofriendly, PhlatLight LEDs are mercuryfree and throughout the lifetime of a projector should never need replacement. The solidstate light source used in the HT8000 is the PhlatLight LED PT120 chipset, comprised of a red, green and blue LED, delivering high brightness, superior color and longterm performance and reliability.

“Cooperation between Luminus, Delta and Texas Instruments has delivered the most stable and reliable performance for Delta’s HT8000, with an image so bright it has never been experienced in the past,” said Matt Mazzuchi, General Manager, Projection Display Business Group, Luminus Devices. “Today, traditional lamp technologies are becoming obsolete and PhlatLight LEDs are synonymous with the innovative, nextgeneration technologies driving the rapid growth of the projector industry.”

The HT8000 home theater projector will be on display at CES, January 811, in both Luminus’ and Delta’s suites at the Las Vegas Hilton. Luminus will be in Suite #4118 and Delta Electronics’ Suite #1365. PT121 Offers High Brightness Levels in NextGeneration, LampFree,
    EnvironmentallyFriendly Data Projectors

Las Vegas, NV, Consumer Electronics Show?January 8, 2009?Luminus Devices, Inc., today announced the introduction of the PhlatLight® LED PT121 chipset, designed specifically for nextgeneration, lampfree data projectors. The PT121 delivers high brightness levels, enhanced color and longterm performance and reliability for data projectors.

The PT121 chipset is enhanced when used in conjunction with Texas Instruments’ digital light processing technology (DLP®). Each PT121 chipset is comprised of a red, green and blue LED, and is bestsuited for data projectors using microdisplays ranging from 0.65”1”. Like other PhlatLight LED products, the PT121 offers instant start up with no warm up and cool down period required by today’s conventional mercury lamp technologies. The PT121 also includes a wide color gamut that exceeds NTSC standards and surpasses 60,000 hours of lifetime, eliminating the need to replace the projector light source.

“Texas Instruments and Luminus have a longstanding collaborative relationship that fosters innovation,” said Lars Yoder, vice president, DLP® Front Projection Products at Texas Instruments. “The integration of our individual expertise in DLP chip technology and PhlatLight LEDs results in expanding the global market with unmatched levels of picture quality and product reliability of DLP projectors.”

“The PT121 is built for nextgeneration, lampfree data projectors providing a high brightness, mercuryfree technology, not available in traditional lamp technologies,” said Udi Meirav, President and CEO, Luminus Devices. “The PhlatLight LED PT121 chipset is part of a broader family of industryleading ‘green’ technologies from Luminus Devices that enables original equipment manufacturers to deliver extremely high levels of brightness and clarity with virtually zero lamp replacement over the lifetime of the projector.”

When combined, the red, green and blue chips produce more than 2,000 white lumens at 8,000 color temperature in time sequential pulsed mode. There is also 100 percent uniform surface emission for high collection efficiency and low optical losses. In addition, the monolithic emission area per color allow for singlelens collection and simplified optics.
