Just remember it's good entertainment. Seeing people get all bent out of shape over something, that in the end, isn't really all that important.

I have gone rounds with people here before, so I say this with respect. I'm not going down that road again.

I feel quite matter of fact about the films and Lucas' neuroses. A few nights ago, my wife and I watched the De-specialized Star Wars fan edit. Last night, we watched the De-specialized The Empire Strikes Back. We enjoyed both immensely. This weekend, we'll watch the De-specialized Return of the Jedi. I am not "boycotting" Lucas, or "voting with my wallet". I would consider it a "boycott" if I was refusing to buy something I really wanted, but wanted to make a statement about something I didn't agree with (like not buying Wisconsin cheese even though I like cheese because the cheese companies are unfair to cheesemakers, for example). I'm just not buying what Lucas is selling. And I am still enjoying Star Wars.Tim Mauldin said:I have gone rounds with people here before, so I say this with respect. The changes are what they are, I have to either accept them or not accept them and "vote with my wallet" as someone said earlier. However, I don't think its worth getting my blood-pressure up over. I was thinking hard about skipping this release, I was telling my wife that there were rumors of "changes and fixes, that were not really fixed". I thought she would be happy, because I wouldn't be spending money. She says, to my surprise "they are just movies". At that point I made my decision, I'm going to enjoy them now.

Not to mention the fact that in yet another sign of George just phoning it in, that's not even Hayden actually performing in context. He's on record as saying that he had no idea he would be in ROTJ until the DVDs actually came out. That's just some random footage, where for all we know he WAS asking about Megan Fox If the OOT were available, I would definitely buy the Special Editions along with it. They would be fun to watch as a "what if" sort of thing. George's constant tinkering could actually be interesting to watch, as long as the originals were always there to go back to. SOME of the work done in the SEs, I have actually enjoyed, such as the new ending music for ROTJ. But just like I don't want a live album as the only way to listen to my favorite band, I don't want the SEs to be the main way I enjoy Star Wars. And the switch from Sebastian Shaw's wonderful warm smile to creepy stalker-like Hayden at the end of ROTJ does not help either. It went from redemption to what's the address of that chick Megan Fox.
i have true lies on d-theater... nice quality and much better then the dvds atleast mr cameron will make sure we get both versions of the movie (the abyss). who knows, maybe he makes an extended cut for true lies too. even then we get the theatrical cut of it. omitting the theatrical cuts on blu-ray isn't only lucas doing. the patriot (roland emmerich), donnie brasco, robin hood: prince of thieves and many others aren't available on their theatrical version on blu-ray. i don't mind extended versions. some are clearly better (aliens, the abyss) and others i prefer the theatrical version (alien, robin hood: prince of thieves, star wars). it's also the fault of the studios who deny us the original theatrical versions. in the case of star wars, i doubt fox would deny them too us because they know we are willing to put the extra cash on the table for them. this is a very annyoing habbit the studios doing these days.Tim Mauldin said:I would like to see good quality BDs of The Abyss and True Lies, but I don't have any control over those titles either.
