These babies better sell!

I want Seasons 2 and 3 and we won't get them
unless people buy the first set.

$49.99 at Costco next Tuesday. Cheaper than Best Buy, Amazon, Laser's Edge, and even DDD.

Ron: Buy a couple, give one to a friend! :D

I just bought the new LIS set, and I must say I was very happy with it! So far I've only gone throught the first three episodes, but they're uncut and in pretty nice quality. Now I can throw out the VHS dupes I recorded off the USA network back in 1989 at last!

I also liked the box art and the slim cases (it's an 8 disc set). A nice job by Fox, if the first three eps were any indciation.

Now I can only hope we'll eventually get the next two seasons (Season Three is my personal favorite).

I'm kind of surprised that there isn't any participation on the new set from the LIS cast members. They're all very active and make regular appearances at fan conventions and have been quite involved in their old series over the past years. Maybe in a future set? This is a tiny nitpick, though, to what so far promises to be a great addition to my DVD collection! :)

well considering they didnt spend the money to remaster them, am assuming they didnt approach the cast members because they didnt want to spend the money to pay them. I am so looking forward to these...

I have talked with LIS fan club members who have
been tracking this release over the past year.

My opinion is that Fox was hesitant to release
LOST IN SPACE to DVD. I think that they were
concerned it would not sell. There wasn't
anything special thrown into this set and as
it has been discussed, the masters could very
well be the same used for the VHS set years back.

I received my copy yesterday. Surprisingly, I
haven't opened it yet (not enough time this week).
I do like the packaging, and I am happy to read
that the membership thinks the transfer quality
is fine.

As I have stated before, we need these sets to sell.
Seasons 2 and 3 are huge improvements over Season 1.

So far so good, and I appreciate Fox getting this out.

ok I'm a big fan one little extra I would have liked would have been a still section with all those press photos with the robot. Years ago if I saw a book in a bookstore with a gag shot with the robot in it (usually posed with Smith doing absurd things)I'd buy it...lol...im a bit of a fanatic. I still have a scrapbook somewhere with all these clippings in it. And really having the original unaired pilot is a great extra.....it's just that I think most of us have it so its been getting overlooked. But it will be great to have everything in one spot.

Let me further comment on a few things that
may have been taken too lightly....

There is nothing special thrown into this set that
hasn't been available previously on VHS. The unaired
pilot has been available on tape for years.

Season 2 and 3 are much better than the first season
in my opinion, despite The Great Vegetable Rebellion
and a few other Season 3 clunkers.

Overall, the latter two seasons boast color, better
character development (Dr. Smith is at his best in the
last 2 seasons) and cooler storylines.

I think Season One will be memorable for its more
serious science-fiction tone (the B&W images make
the show seem downright eery at times), but those
like I that enjoyed the "camp" will love Seasons
two and three.

Ron, you and I may be in the minority here, but I agree with you on Seasons 2 and 3 being more enjoyable than Season One. I've had my appetite wetted for these color shows on DVD ever since seeing clips from LOST IN SPACE FOREVER. God, I really hope the first set sells well enough to encourage two more sets.

Ronbo,
Well, how is the set? I'm awaiting your word on whether to purchase this dvd set.

As far as the three seasons, well I watched the original broadcast of all three and the first season is far and away my favorite one from my childhood even the reruns I've seen in syndication over the years.

Ron, has CBS' six-minute pitch to network advertisers been available commercially on tape? Or is that something that has popped up on fan-made tapes?

Sorry, Ron, I didn't mean to give the impression that I was trying to "get" you. I was just trying to find out for my information so that I could reflect it in my write-up for Tuesday's paper. I couldn't find evidence that the CBS pitch had been available before, so I was wondering if you had more information since you implied that it had been available on VHS. Thanks.
:)

Oh, okay. I owe you an apology then.

As far as I know, that CBS material has not been
previously available, but I cannot confirm that
information.

If you want to get in touch with someone who
probably can, send me a private email and I'll
put you in touch with someone that runs one of
the LIS Fan Clubs.
