Yes, get paid to watch DVD's...

We're looking for people interested in working full or part time as DVD testers. The job would include watching DVD's, and navigating the menus on different players. We schedule days, evenings and weekends, with lots of flexibility.

All testing is done at our facility in the North Hollywood/ Van Nuys/ Northridge area of Los Angeles, so you must be within driving distance.

This is a great job for any forum members wishing to supplement their income or support a DVD habit.

It's major (and minor) studio films; no porn :b .

    Applicants should:
    • like DVD's, movies and home theater.
    • know their way around a DVD remote.
    • have a reasonable eye (and ear) for video and audio quality.

If you're interested, please email me at: burkj@checkdisc.com This isn't a "work at home" scam or some kind of joke. You actually get to come into work, watch DVD's, and pick up a paycheck at the end of the week. The job varies from extremely fun, to extremely monotonous; some of the stuff we watch is really terrible. We have a good time, but demand perfection. If you're good, we can work with almost any schedule to help supplement your income, including on-call work whenever you're available.

If you know someone in the Los Angeles area who might be interested, please pass this notice along.

    Thanks! [IMG]

And yes, I got Ron's permission before I posted. We're an equal opportunity employer.

I really wish there was a chance to do this in-home, or at least somewhere in my area. I'm VERY thorough in checking DVDs, including menus, audio tracks and subtitles, I even check things like the parental lock (some discs show a screen when you have it on) and region coding. I must be the biggest hearing fan of closed-captions too (it's interesting to see how they're done.) The only thing I lack is a 16x9 display.
Someone at least ought to hire me as a spell-checker, as I've seen lots of typos and spelling errors in both printed and onscreen notes on DVDs!

Man, I would watch anything ... great or awful ... if it meant getting paid. This is one of the disadvantages of living in Iowa. [IMG]

maybe you could qualify for a tax credits if you moved to an 'economic devastation zone'-up here in WA and OR, the "Official" Unemployment rate is 7.5-8.0%, but is actually more like 10%--BLS just love to jiggle the numbers...[IMG]

Thanks for the replies everyone. However tempting Florida, Sydney or...Oregon sound, I've heard it's not good business to pick up and move thousands of miles away from your clients.

And "Lee", I have it on good authority that some of our clients actually read the HTF. Come to think of it, it's possible some of our competitors may as well, so I'll have to plead the fifth and leave the answer up to your imagination.

I would also like to add that I'm especially interested in hiring any testers that have a background in the buying and selling of rare or antiquated books. Years ago, one of my best testers was such a man. Now what was his name... [IMG] [/inside joke]

Anyhow, thanks to those who have already sent resumes.
