So much to my dismay, it looks like my Samsung 42" 16:9 set locks into 16:9 picture size when it gets a progressive signal. This isn't a huge problem for movies but many XBox and Gamecube games are 4:3 and they look very odd in 16:9 mode. Does anyone know if it's possible to bypass this in the service menu or is this one of those things that is probably hard wired? Any info is appreciated.

    Dave,

Just a hint, it might be beneficial to post the model number of your set, and whether it's crt based or dlp, reason being that features can and do differ between different model years and model numbers. That way if someone else with the same model set reads your question they can advise you.

It's a CRT based P4241W RPTV. As for returning the set, it's a little too late for that. Any other ideas?
