Lionsgate is proud to announce these upcoming DVD releases arriving on April 21st - Wolverine And The X-Men: Heroes Return Trilogy, The Burrowers, Voyage of the Damned and The Arrival Blu-ray Disc.

Wolverine And The X-Men: Heroes Return Trilogy
This April, Marvel Animation and Lionsgate team up to unveil the first DVD release of the all-new animated series Wolverine And The X-Men. In the debut release, Wolverine And The X-Men: Heroes Return Trilogy, the world has spiraled out of control and it's up to Wolverine to reunite the broken heroes formerly known as the X-Men to prevent the world's destruction and save the future. The trilogy includes the first three-story arc of the Nicktoons series that began broadcasting regularly on January 23, 2009. Sure to appeal to fans of all ages, the DVD is loaded with special features that include audio commentaries, a featurette and character profiles and will be encased in an embossed O-Card.

With 45 years of best selling comic books, a massive fan base spanning all ages and three feature films grossing over one billion dollars at the box office, the franchise is a proven phenomenon. Wolverine And The X-Men: Heroes Return Trilogy will be released just before the highly anticipated new Fox summer blockbuster live-action film X-Men Origins: Wolverine starring Hugh Jackman.
    Pricing: DVD $14.98

    The Burrowers
An Official Selection of the 2008 Toronto Film Festival, The Burrowers comes to DVD this April from Lionsgate. It is 1879 in the Dakota Territories. A handful of brave pioneers maintain isolated settlements in the badlands beyond civilization. Irish Immigrant Fergus Coffey is near to winning the hand of his beloved Maryanne when she is suddenly taken from him, her family brutally abducted in a nighttime attack on their homestead. Suspicion falls immediately on hostile Indians. Experienced Indian fighters Will Parcher and John Clay form a posse and set out to rescue the kidnapped settlers, taking along a naïve teenager hoping to prove himself a man, an ex-slave looking to find his place in the world and their ranch-hand, Coffey. But as men vanish in the night and horrific evidence accumulates with the dead and dying, the group discovers that their prey is far more terrifying than anything human, and their prospects are far more terrible than death. DVD special features include "The Burrowers: Making a Horror Western" and "Digging up The Burrowers: Creating the Monster" featurettes and audio commentary with writer/director JT Petty and actor Karl Geary.
    Pricing: DVD $27.98

    Voyage of the Damned
Voyage of the Damned, the three-time Academy Award® nominated film - Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Lee Grant), Best Music, Original Score and Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium - finally makes its DVD debut from Lionsgate. The classic drama stars an outstanding ensemble cast including Academy Award® winners Orson Welles (Citizen Kane), Faye Dunaway (Network) and Lee Grant (Shampoo), Academy Award® nominees Max Von Sydow (Pelle the Conqueror), Oskar Werner (Ship of Fools) and James Mason (The Verdict, Georgy Girl, A Star is Born) and Golden Globe® nominee Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange).

Voyage of the Damned is based on the tragic 1939 voyage of the SS St. Louis. Before the start of WWII, 937 Jewish Germans are offered safe haven in Havana, Cuba. They depart Hamburg in high spirits, looking forward to their new life. However, the whole voyage is actually a Nazi propaganda scheme and the passengers are never really intended to be allowed ashore once they reach their destination. After weeks of unsuccessful pleas, they are forced to return to Europe.

    The Arrival Blu-ray Disc
The "science fiction thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat" (Los Angeles Times) debuts on Blu-ray Disc from Lionsgate. Arriving this April, the Blu-ray Disc contains the feature film in a newly remastered 1080P widescreen presentation with 7.1 DTS HD Master Audio.

Radio astronomer Zane Ziminski (Sheen) becomes intrigued by some strange wavelengths and noises he picks up over his transmitter. When he alerts his boss (Silver) to his findings, he's immediately fired. Zane decides to conduct an investigation on his own, tracing the sound waves to a Mexican village. After some research, he discovers a power plant that turns out to be the headquarters of some very deadly extraterrestrials. Now he must escape with his proof of the upcoming world-shattering alien invasion before it's too late.

I wonder if Voyage of the Damned will be the 158 minute version.

The uncut version is 182 minutes. The 182-minute version was released many years ago on VHS in a two-tape set via Magnetic Video. The out-of-print DVD from Pioneer-Artisan indicated it was 137 minutes on the back cover, but the imdb says the actual running time of that disc was 158. I have only seen the uncut Magnetic version.

It will definitely be interesting to see which version Lionsgate releases.

Tons of extras on the LaserDisc of THE ARRIVAL that never made it over to DVD...wonder if they'll be back on the Blu-ray or if we'll forever be left high and dry...

So cool. THE ARRIVAL is one of those "How-did-that-one-get-by-me" films that is inventive, intelligent and even ecologically aware sci-fi films that so easily slips through the cracks. It's always been one of my favorites of its decade, but so far DVD transfers have been awful. A Blu-ray (even without supps, if the price is right) is an immediate purchase for me when it "arrives."
