I am confused about the life expectancy of different types of HDTV's. Different articles and threads contradict each other. For instance, I just read an article by Jonathan Takiff that states that LCD sets will last 60,000 for hours of viewing before the tubes behind the LCD's need replacement. But then I read threads that say its only 6,000 - 8,000 hours before replacement is needed. This is an important consideration before putting out thousands of dollars.

Can you experts explain the normal life expectancy (how long before a bulb or screen has to be replaced) for the following technologies, and an approximate cost for the replacement?

    LCOS
    DLP
    PLASMA
    LCD
    RPTV

    Thanks for any help.
