Looks like the price war on UHD sets is starting and is getting more in the range of being reasonably priced.

LG's new 55- and 65-inch sets will carry price tags of $3,500 and $5,000.

However, there are some tradeoffs for the price reduction. The pricier LA9700 series sets—a 55-inch TV that sells for $4,500 and a 65-inch model with a $6,500 price—have a few features the new LA950 TVs lack, including LG’s Nano full-array LED backlight and a sliding speaker. The LA9650 series models have an edge LED backlight and a stationary speaker system. My experience with edge lit displays has always paled to a full array of LED's, specifically for accurate local dimming.

On upping the recently announced Panasonic UHD TV, the have a built-in HEVC (H.265) decoder, which H.265 has substantially better compression, which is most likely what most 4K content will be encoded with.
