Just picked up LEXX SEASON 3 VOL. 1. An assessment regarding the quality of thIS disk is hard to pinpoint. On the one hand, the menus are top notch with vivid clarity, but the shows themselves have uneven picture quality. Sometimes they are extra sharp, but other times, the picture looks as if it is being viewed through a hazy filter that causes the backgrounds to look more digitized and jumpy. Just curious, is this because the show itself was made on a modest budget, or is this a mastering problem?

I suspect it's more the budget of the show. On the two discs I have so far of the second season the live action footage often looks a bit soft, especially in the backgrounds. However, the computer effects shots look breathtakingly sharp wih no pixelization whatever.

I'm going by memory here, but I believe the budget for the 13 eps of Season 3 was 13 Million, probably Canadian. I haven't watched S3 on DVD yet, but it would really be disappointing if it looked that bad. It even looked pretty good on TV when it was originally run. A lot of that was spent filming on location, a big change from S1 and S2.

S3 is by far the best Lexx.

Martin.
