I just got back from shopping in Chicago and I found the following laserdiscs:

Escape from New York: SE $7.99
The Frighteners: CE $39.99
The Killer: Criterion Collection $19.99
Hard Boiled: Criterion Collection $19.99
Lion King: SE $14.99
The Rock: Criterion Collection $19.99
Star Wars: The Diffinative Collection $50.00

I know that a lot or most are out on DVD, but if you're looking for some great deals on Laserdiscs then go to Chicago.

If you ever want to trade for that Frighteners set (it is the set with all the extras, right?), I've got quite a bit of good LDs, and some dvds, to trade, so give me a buzz. I'd rather not spend cash right now, though.

Your deal on Frighteners makes me want to hang myself.

...okay, maybe a little dramatic, but still...39.99!!!

Actually, for deals, I've got BooneG's Frighteners beat - a year ago I found a near mint Lubitsch Touch box set for $19.99. This box set sells for anything from $400-$700 on Ebay, two to three times as much as The Frighteners. Still an exceptional price and almost a reason to go to Chicago.

I preordered that Frighteners disc and got it for like $34 from Ken Cranes when it first came out. :)

I just wanted to chime in and say, I hate you all.

...and by "all" I mean anyone who has gotten a better deal than me on anything, ever.

Was this at Q.E.D. Laser, which is just outside of Chicago? A nice store with an excellent selection, particuarly rental.

I got a copy of Robinson Crusoe on Mars - The Criterion Collection for $9.99 a year ago at a small mom & pop store.
