Well, it looks like this series is about to be killed off by NBC...after next season.

CNN.com is reporting that both James Caan and Nikki Cox will not be returning next season. Caan is reportedly leaving to resume his film career and Cox has been let go due to "budget cuts". You can read the entire article here: http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/0...eut/index.html

Given the dreadful time slot and now Caan's exit, I don't see this show lasting much longer.

What a shame!

Caan's departure is definitely going to end the show. They should just end the show and do a big finale.

My knee-jerk reaction is that this isn't good news, although a lot depends on whether they opt to replace Caan with another veteran (Dennis Hopper?) or focus on the younger characters trying to grow into new roles. Either one could be interesting, if done well. I'm guessing bringing someone else in, because I don't imagine they'd need to move lose Nikki Cox with James Caan's salary coming off the books.

As to Ms. Cox... That annoys me because I like her, but I suspect she'll land on her feet. Besides, she's had some really ridiculous storylines this year, as if the writers don't know what to do with her character while they ram Danny & Delinda down our throats (and, conversely, that pairing just feels stupid with Mary around).

I haven't watched this year (planning to wait for the DVD's), but the show has been on a downward spiral for awhile now. To me, the best season was the first, and I didn't like when they got rid of the Nessa Holt character. James Caan is a big part of the show. Anything past this season feels like trying to squeeze blood from a turnip. What a great chemistry early seasons had.

I really enjoy Las Vegas when they keep the story lines casino oriented. When they take Ed, Danny, and/or Mike and have them run around and solve crimes like cops or fedral agents it really starts to bug me. Okay, it is kind of cool seeing Ed's CIA past catching up with him from time to time but the other crime fighting capers really require quite a suspension of disbelief on the viewer's part.

I'll miss seeing James Caan and Nikki Cox (hubba hubba) both but I'll tune in after they are gone to see what's happening.

Well, next Friday is the season finale...we'll see what happens then!

I'll be watching next season, but I'm not enthusiastic or hopeful for next season. I kinda agree with todd s...they should've just ended the show for good next week.

Why should they end it if you're going to watch next year? When a show is building an audience, it has to come up with enough reasons for people to watch. When a show has an audience, you only need to do just enough so that you don't lose them. If these 2 major staffing moves (on top of losing nessa), combined with increasingly ridiculous storylines doesn't alienate the audience, there's no reason for them to end the show. If people keep watching, they keep getting their ratings and resulting ad dollars. Business goal accomplished.

Wow, talk about cliffhangers. And how many episodes were their this season?? The show started in November and its the beginning of March. This has to be the shortest season of a non-new show. Does anyone know when the show will be back?? I hope we don't have to wait until Oct/Nov. Thats over 8 months!

There were 17 episodes; I wouldn't call that short. It started at the end of October and only ran reruns during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Alias's last season also had only 17 episodes. Granted, Alias was screwed over by ABC who ordered the show to end quicker.

I was watching one of the E shows and they said their are lots of rumors from the Vegas set. But they have reason to believe a lot had to do with actors/actresses not getting along and a combo of bad scripts. Caan was one that was rumored to complain about the shows writing but they stopped at suggesting that had anything to do with him wanting out to make movies again.

Cox just wanted too much money so they told her to take a hike.

I think it was a great, fun show. It was just good entertainment and you knew there was always a happy ending coming (which was a breath of fresh air with everything else on). But this year and last year really didn't seem on key at all. The whole fiasco with "the bitch" character played by Boyle and other stuff really sent it downhill.

Right now, there may not be a new season or rather full season. It may just be 10 or so episodes to write some good endings and call it quites. Maybe season 5 will turn around, but from the reports so far, much about this show is still uncertain.

Pretty nutty season finale. Hated the distraught vet subplot that just got shoehorned in for an extra bit of chaos at the end.

I started watching the show at the end of season 2. I recently got first two seasons on dvd. And it was a much better show than this past season. While it wasn't the cast...I think they have great chemistry. It just seemed to get a bit too bizarre.

What would be good is that they bring the show back for a small season and end it. And hope to convince Caan to either come back for all or part of the season. He can appear in a few episodes...especially how they left it with him and his wife. He can own the hotel and make a guest appearance every few episodes.

Which may or may not get picked up, and may or may not last even if it does get picked up initially. Good luck to her.

True enough; I can't say Fugly looks like it'll have a lot of traction. I'd just said I expected her to land on her feet, so, hey, check it out, landing on her feet.

This show has become like a trainwreck, it's sad to think about but you can't look away, and what a mess.

I remember saying all through the last 2 episodes, "they'd better not leave her in that trunk over the summer..."

Oh well - the pileups continue next season...
