The Mixing Bowl episode was average. The weakest so far.

The inside of the restaurant was very dull almost drab.
Definitely no style.

and Mike's 50% off coupon deals just doesn't make sense...pretty stupid

I loved the wood chipper sign destroying scene.

and Mike taking half of the waitresses tips? WTF?
Mike's got a BIG ego..saying the waitresses wouldn't get the tips if it wasn't for him.

the restaurant getting the face lift was great. looked SO much better.

The new food looked amazing

Mike's blowup about the Dragon's reservation was unnecessary to do in front of customers. Mike seems very emotional, cries too much.
Or maybe it was the full moon that night :)

He didn't.
This part was totally fake.

If you watch it, that outburst took place when the restaurant was CLOSED. They had a tight shot of them all talking about the night when Mike blew up. But then they cut in segments of people eating and looking over as if they were reacting to the outburst. They weren't. Because when Gordon told him to get out of there, he walked out and you can see that the tables were empty.

That was a weak episode, and the fake editing only made it worse.

They did the same thing when Mike brought out all those signs from the back. As he passed by some tables, they played the sound of a glass breaking, and then a separate cut of some diners looking over as if he just walked by and broke a glass. it didn't happen. They played the exact same glassbreaking audio snipet later on when he was holding a tray of about 6 cokes.

The completely fake Fox editing is soooooooo annoying.

And totally illegal. If the house touches the tips, they have to go all or not, and then the tips have to have taxes withheld. If he just pockets the cash, then there is something very amiss.

I know were talking restaurants here, but try telling this to Wynn Casino dealers. Wynn, the owner says that the dealers HAVE TO share their tips with the bosses. Wynn dealers here have been trying to sue and boycott this past year and have failed.
Wynn's attitude- If you don't like it. QUIT.

I just don't see how they can get away with it. I personally know of a restaurant that damn near was dismantled because they pocketted tip money and didn't pay taxes after the house touched it.

There's a tiny sushi place near here where the owner keeps *all* the tips (or did last I heard). However, he pays the waitresses a lot of money (something like $10/ hour), so they don't complain about it. They actually come out ahead when business isn't brisk.

Still, IMO that's being dishonest with the customers.

People who believe that small cash businesses like local restaurants follow every law to the letter have another thing coming. :)

As a small business owner, I know the feeling (Cash is King) still if I were to appear on National TV, I'd try my best to not show cash going unreported rather then make a point of it..

I really liked the Seascape episode.

Cooks Charlie and Doug were horrible.
Especially Doug who was so stubborn and bullheaded, and basically a conceded dick.

Peter really had his balls somewhere else, and finally grew some after Ramsey gave him those pep talks.

Glad they didn't get a complete kitchen makeover, instead just a paint job and woodwork job, and then lessons on how to run their business.

I can't believe a health inspection passed with all that horrible stuff Ramsey found. That is if the health inspectors even set foot in there.

I loved the mothers comment to Ramsey when she saiod they got a 95% from the board of health.

The only bad thing is that the new improved food didn't look that improved.

Next weeks Olde Stone Mill looks just as good

I thought it was a bit messed up when Peter ends up selling the place, 5 months after the relaunch. The offer must have been really great, or just a way out for Peter.

I also wonder how the health inspector could give a pass to the place. It looked more like a haunted house.

Good riddance to the cooks.

A friend of mine isn't so convinced that it's completely free, but I have no idea.

I know that with most (if not all) of those HGTV/ TLC home improvement shows, the homeowners do pay for the work.

The Mixing Bowl is about 1 mile from me. We went there the day after the show aired. Food was great, and they were very apprieciative that we watched the show.

Very glad to hear there will be a season 2.
I really enjoy this show.

The Olde Stone Mill episode was good.
Their original food did look crappy.

and Ramsey turning it into a steak house was fantastic.

Even the signs added a nice touch to the outside.

I want to eat there now:)

Could Sebastian's be looked upon as the first failure? Ramsey seems to feel that way, since the owner wants to go back to the old menu.

I caught the last 40 minutes of this, maybe somebody in the Hollywood area can check up on it. He surely did seem like he wanted to go back to his menu...

I recognize some of the older dishs on their online menu.. At one point Sebastian says to make up a "pittsburg". However, looks like the wood fired pizzas survived..

I think his head is in the right place to want a unique menu, but in practice he was just mixing and matching frozen pre-packaged ingredients. Ramsey called him a "phony chef" for that. If people see the show and think they're getting frozen food, they probably won't come back.

It sounded like the new menu offered things that weren't in the neighborhood, so it was still unique to some extent. IMO they should perfect creating the dishes on the new menu, then add new stuff as it becomes practical.

Sebastian was a complete idiot. So clueless.

The old menu wasn't working. It hasn't worked for 2 years. Why would he think it would start to work now?

I knew he was a jerk the instant he told Chef Ramsey that the Calamari was fresh knowing it wasn't. Did he think that Gordon wouldn't be able to tell the difference?

And the owner thinking he was a good chef was just completely delusional. All he did was mix frozen ingredients together in different combinations. How is that a chef?

The whole restaurant was simply there for Sebastian's ego.
