Kit recommendations for a new guy (1 Viewer)

Hello to all,
Since business is kind of slow this time of year I have been spending time on the web looking for a new shop project and I stumbled into the world of the DIY speaker builder. The amount of information is overwhelming so I am looking for someone with more experience to guide me. I was planning on purchasing some new Paradigm studio 40's but from the looks of things my money can be spent better on a DIY set. My budget would be around the $1000 (Canadian) mark and I would like to build the cabinets myself. I think I would prefer a prebuilt cross over but I could follow a kit to build this as well. I hope this is enough info to give you an idea as to what I need (or think I need)
