[IMG] Kino Lorber Announces DVD Release of Neil Diamond's documentary Reel Injun (2009)

New York, NY - November 23, 2011 - Kino Lorber is proud to announce the DVD release of Reel Injun (2009), a comprehensive and revealing documentary from Cree filmmaker Neil Diamond examining the representation of Native Americans in Hollywood film over the past century, as well as the work of Native American filmmakers dating back to the silent era, and featuring interviews with Clint Eastwood, Adam Beach, Jim Jarmusch, Wes Studi, Graham Greene and Russell Means, among others.

Reel Injun was an official selection at the Toronto Film Festival, SXSW Film Festival, and Palm Springs Festival of Native Film & Culture. This entertaining and provocative film comes to DVD on November 29th, with a SRP of $29.95.
Featuring interviews with a number of celebrated filmmakers, actors and activists including Clint Eastwood, Robbie Robertson, Sacheen Littlefeather, John Trudell, and Russell Means, Neil Diamond's documentary explores the complexities and contradictions of Hollywood's depiction of Native Americans through a century of cinema. Through the use of clips from hundreds of films, from the silent era to today (including such recent Native American-produced films as Smoke Signals and The Fast Runner), Diamond traces how Hollywood's stereotypical depictions and images have influenced the world's understanding - and misunderstanding - of Native Americans over the years.

Reel Injun provides a comprehensive look at the racial politics of Hollywood, and the continuing artistic vibrancy of Native American filmmakers.
