[IMG]Now, following its nationwide theatrical release, this acclaimed and much-anticipated film from one of the masters of contemporary world cinema will be released on DVD from Kino Lorber on June 24th, with a SRP of $29.95.

Based upon the tragedy by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, FAUST tells the timeless tale of a man who sells his soul to the devil, with Sokurov's distinctive, elaborate visual style bringing a new approach to this classic story.

    SYNOPSIS:
Winner of the 2011 Venice International Film Festival's Golden Lion, FAUST is acclaimed director Alexander Sokurov's (Russian Ark)hallucinatory re-imagining of Goethe's masterpiece set in the early 19th century.

Faust (Johannes Zeiler) is a man in search of the ideals of the Enlightenment, but becomes obsessed with the lovely Margarete (Isola Dychauk) and eventually sells his soul to the Devil (Anton Adasinsky) also known as the Moneylender, so he may possess her. Comic, cosmic, painterly, and stunningly beautiful scenes abound as the Devil takes Faust on a strange, unforgettable journey that ends in Hell itself.

Using elaborate camera movements, a dense soundscape, intricate production design and spectacular locations, FAUST conjures up a unique and phantasmagoric vision of the Faustian legend.

Bought the Blu-ray nearly two years ago from the UK. But of course, Kino is doing a great service for Region 1 DVD customers who do not have the privilege of owning a region-free player. :)

The Blu-ray version will be out September 16th, and the Amazon pre-order is here.

I don't know why Kino did not make the announcement at the same time as the DVD, because this has been their product page for some time now:
