That's the exact reason I've never upgraded my DVD edition of the Director's Cut. Not only is it bare-bones, the BRD omits the roadshow elements (overture, intermission), as I recall.Jari K said:Please please, not another re-release. The original BD is totally bare bones.
Me too! However, looking at the link it appears that this is a release of the original theatrical version on one disc...Allansfirebird said:That's the exact reason I've never upgraded my DVD edition of the Director's Cut. Theatrical cut has huge plot holes, the directors cut is a vastly improved film, i think it's a good film, not a great one, though it has great cinematography and it also has Eva Green in it, enough said, who doesn't like Eva Green.Ronald Epstein said:I am waiting to see what is going on with this release.
I have never seen this film. I hear exceptional things about it.
I also hear The Director's Cut is the way to go as it fills in huge plot holes.
If this is only the theatrical cut, perhaps I'll just spend $10 and buy the current
Director Cut release from Amazon.
What do you guys think? And, is the movie THAT GOOD?
I liked the movie when I first saw the theatrical cut. I didn't really notice plot holes in the theatrical cut.Ronald Epstein said:If this is only the theatrical cut, perhaps I'll just spend $10 and buy the current

Yes. As others have said there really is no comparison between the theatrical version and the director's cut. The only thing missing from the Director's cut is the Roadshow trappings of Overture, Intermission/Entracte music that appear on the special edition dvd. Fox really ruined the distribution of this film by having Scott cut it to their liking. It's really an 'event' type of epic...Ronald Epstein said:I am waiting to see what is going on with this release.

If this is so that would be amazing for fans of this epic film!Jari K said:OMG! Based on the online stores..."Commemorate the 10th Anniversary of visionary director Sir Ridley Scott's cinematic masterpiece with this 2-Disc Blu-ray Edition that includes all three versions of the film - the Director's Cut, Director's Cut Roadshow Version and Original Theatrical Version - all presented in high definition, plus over nine hours of in-depth special features, including a full-length documentary that takes you on the path from pre-production to release. A truly legendary cast leads this visually spectacular epic, including Orlando Bloom, Eva Green, Liam Neeson and Academy Award-Winner Jeremy Irons. Bloom stars as Balian, a young blacksmith who has lost his family and his faith. But when his father (Neeson) reveals his destiny, Balian joins the heroic fight to protect his people from overwhelming forces, and rises to knighthood."
