Latest episode was completely by the book, the end sequence happening exactly how the lawyers described. I did like some of the writing in this episode, especially how they played the girl "Whatever you do, don't cry".

I still say that if Fox is smart, they'll put the rest of the episodes on hold, when the first block of episodes of Lost comes on, and then start playing the rest of Justice when one of those long blocks of weeks without a new Lost comes up, and some people get tired of waiting.

Edit: Although also, it could be Vanished that is gone, and Justice moving into that slot. A week from Monday, Fox will show a rerun of the "Pretty Woman" episode directly after Prison Break.

Actually, according to published reports, Lost is going to a "no repeat" format this season, similar to that of Prison Break. ABC is running a block of shows this fall, going on hiatus, then returning in early spring and running straight through to the end of the season.

I liked last nights ep, although I could have done without Victor Garber gushing and patting himself on the back about his prowess as a lawer lol.

Big business, or at least the big business depicted in this ep, is just evil I tell you, they just didn't give a shit about the little girl or her mother's death. :frowning:

Yeah, thats what I mean, they should play the rest of the episodes during the break from Lost, because if I remember correctly there will only be 6.. or maybe its 8... new episodes in the fall, quite a few of which will probably be during the time Fox is showing baseball playoffs anyway.

According to this report from Zap2it, FOX may be trying to find a new timeslot for Justice in an effort to keep it on the schedule. At least it is better than a flat-out cancellation.

TV Deathwatch has Justice in the top ten, and it was a heavy favorite for early cancellation, but recent ratings have been better and it is one of several Fox shows that are being pulled for "retooling" behind the scenes during the World Series hiatus.

Seems to me that not much has changed behind the scenes. I really liked the episode tonight, and that long-awaited lost case really helps with the tension of the show; even one guilty verdict helps because you're not sure if it will happen again or not. The only other change really that I noticed was the fighting amongst the members of the firm, but I liked this show all along, so maybe I'm the wrong person to say if this improved or not.

Expanding the cast helped. In the last 2 episodes they've picked up their invesitgator and expert witness for more permanent roles. Last night's ep was pretty good, though I wished for more of a conclusion.

The guilty verdict with an innocent client was a surprise. That definitely adds more tension to the future. They did mention the possibility of grounds for appeal earlier in the episode so that might have been a first clue to the viewer that they might be going this direction. I first thought it was going to be a 2-parter, but the appeal is being handled outside the firm so that's it for the case, I guess.

Not necessarily. Appeals take forever, and even with an outside appellate specialist taking the lead for that case, the kid remains their client. This may be a case they revisit later this season or even next, because even if the appeal is successful, odds are the D.A. will refile and the best the client will get is a new trail. And that puts the case back in TNT&G's hands.

That's because that episode was filmed before the retooling. The episode was originally scheduled to air a few weeks ago, in the last Wednesday airing before the MLB playoffs.

Good point. On the other hand the time scale on this episode (and most episodes) is actually quite large (though the appeals process is probably larger). It is all quite compressed and I presume some episodes are happening at the same time as other ones.

Meanwhile, I think it would be an interesting experiment if they had a Justice/Shark crossover. See the same story from both points of view.

Interesting concept, not going to happen. :)

Justice

Produced by: Bruckheimer/Warner Bros.

Airs on: Fox Network

Shark:

Produced by: CBS Television

Airs on: CBS Network

It isn't in anybody's interest to cross-promote these two shows. :)

But it's happened before: Ally McBeal and The Practice had a crossover, and they were on different networks, but produced both by David E. Kelley.

BTW, anyone know if they re-tooled the last aired episode (perhaps originally T&T&G got the guy off the hook, but after reading all the responses to how the firm never loses, it was times to spin the case another way)?

The operative words there being, "both produced by David E. Kelley", who at the time was the infallible boy wonder of television. Also at that time Fox was still a "netlet", not yet a real network in the eyes of Hollywood and still trying to attract affliiates. So it simply wasn't that much of a threat to ABC. (Also note that the cross-over started on Ally and ended on The Practice. So the viewers would be coming from the Fox series to the ABC show. :) Granted the ABC viewers would also be exposed to Ally McBeal, but that's a chance you've got to take.

Homicide and Law & Order managed a couple of cross-overs as well, despite being from different studios. The point is the shows have to have one of the two in common - the studio/production company or the network, preferably both - because otherwise nobody has a reason to do this sort of thing, and nobody has any leverage to convince anybody else to do it. (OK, sometimes you can get the powers that be to do a very limited cross-over just because it seems like a fun idea and the actors are up for it - like when Detective John Munch appeared on The X-Files - but that sort of thing doesn't happen every day. And that only worked because Munch is such a whack job himself that you buy him as a character on The X-Files.)

It's too bad there isn't anything production wise or network wise that could make that the case. Besides the cross-overs mentioned above I remember Murder She Wrote doing (at least) one with Magnum PI and also there was The Pretender and Profiler twice (though I prefer not to think about the Profiler halves of those as they completely perverted the Pretender half). In both of these cases it was the same network.

So, how about Prison Break series finale with Justice :)
