Finally, after tonnes of research, auditioning, and negotiating I bought a silver faced Rotel RSX-1055, reasons being...

    1) Firmware upgradeable

    2) Far better 2 ch. quality over EVERY receiver I have auditioned, including the Denon 5803.

    3) Flexibility, for outboard amplification and 7.1 surround sound.

    4) Rotel Quality and warrenty, very good user support on forums.

    5) has awesome proccessing power, also has HDCD.

    6) Cannot afford an amp quite "YET" however I do plan to move into a rotel RMB-1095 when funds permit me to. Or if I am happy with the rotels onboard amplification for movies I might just get a 2 ch. for music listening.

    7) Lastly the rotel name, I might get flamed for this but for what its worth, I got an awesome deal. I'm not even going to mention what I got it for, but I will tell you this, it was cheaper then the denon 3803. I have a pretty close relationship with my dealer, so this was not an issue.

So with that said I can FINALLY bring speakers into MY home environment and start auditioning. First on my list are...

    Paradigm Studio 20 V.3
    Ascend Acoustics CBM-170
    Axiom M22Ti

Anymore I should add to the list in this performance range? Thanks.

P.S. I will have a full review up on the RSX-1055 as well as my thoughts on all 3 speakers. I will have them all in my house at once for A/B comparision. Thanks for reading!

    forgot to mention...

Tuner is another added bonus. I can't seem to justify putting $800 into a tuner when I occasionally listen to the radio and when I do it's not for critical listening anyways. different strokes for different folks I guess.

I use a 1055 and agree. For the $$$ its hard to beat the 1055. Sounds great for both music and HT

Welcome to the Rotel fan club guys[IMG] I agree with all your reasons for buying the rotel and must say of all the companies I've tried to work with Rotel has been the best so far. I mean there aren't many companies that I can phone the VP and discuss some of the things our user community would like to see addressed in the next firmware release[IMG]

I took a very hard look at the Rotel but instead went for the Marantz 7300ose. It just sounded better to me and offered a bit more power per channel

Hi. I too have looked at and read about the 1055.

AND, I am pretty set on getting the M22's.

I can't decide on spending the $800 for the 3803 or going up a few hundred for the 1055. I'm not sure whether the M22's would justify such a fine receiver.

Please post your test results of this combination when you do it, I would be highly appreciative!

    Geoff,

Another receiver to consider would be the NAD T762. It easily competes with the Rotel and has a little more power (100 wpc with ALL CHANNELS DRIVEN) and 6 powered channels. The stereo performance is outstanding in every way. MSRP is $1299 but you can find them from authorized dealers for about $975 (maybe less since the T763 is due around December). This is not to understate the RSX-1055 though, it to is definitely an outstanding piece. Let your ears be the judge.

Well....... After my glorious power company blew up a transformer 3 seperate times with the third time it going up in flames the subsequint power surges not only ate the internal amplifier of one of my Klipsch KSP-400's but also managed to fry my Marantz 7300ose. So after having the speaker striped out and the companents going back to Klipsch in Hope,AR and it being repaired I shipped back the Marantz and it was a total loss so my insurrance company paid for a new reciever. So I went and got the Rotel RSX-1055 in black with software ver 2.26 etc. I must admit that I am more satisfied with the Rotel. So I guess I am a convert.

I don't think anyone is going to knock you for getting Rotel around here. But I would caution you against the RMB-1095 - It's known to have serious groundplane issues (ground hum - not just from the sat). So you might want to look for alternatives. The 1075 doesn't have any of these problems since it was based on another design.

I agree with Ernest, there are problems with the 1095 and possibly the 1090...it seems all other amps are fine.

I bought a RSX-1055 a couple of months ago and I love it. It replaced my aging Marantz SR-680 that I had for years. I turned away from Marantz due to the quality issues I had with their DVD players.

I'm now a huge Rotel Fan!

I'm a Rotel RSX-1055 owner as well and have it powering a 5.1 Ascend Acoustics setup. I am continually amazed by how good my setup sounds and would highly recommend you audition the CBM-170s. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
