    Greetings guru’s –

Looking for insight on the below brands/models.

The links below are from Best Buys site because they list all the items I am questioning about. The speakers are actually in a small local home theater store.

Would like to know what would be the best setup for 3.1 and possibly a 5.1 setup…. although, I would most likely be setting up a 3.1 system.

Overall just wondering what would be the best set up for me (have a Yamaha receiver). If I bought towers, would I need bookshelves to sit on top?? I have a sub, so I won’t need that.

    Klipsch

The new family room is 20' long and almost 15' wide, and will open up to the kitchen. I am not sure if we will utilize the sectional sofa in the "L" shape that would make for a better 5.1 surround sound setup, so I may go with a 3.1 config.

    Thanks for all your insight!

You really need to just go and listen for yourself and decide from that. There really is no right or wrong answer except that the right ones are the ones that sound best to you.

Although I will say that Klipsch and Yamaha pair very nicely. Also, why would you stack bookshelfs on top of towers??? I don't understand what you mean by that.

Are you thinking that you'd use the towers to be stands for the bookshelfs? If so I would highly recommend against that. The bookshelfs should be on stands behind you.

I personally love the way that klipsch speakers sound. The horn is not only very efficient but it also gives music that live concert sound. Obviously the higher you go up in the product line the better the speakers sound although they are all efficient. I sold my JBLs to a friend and got some Klipschs (true story).

As Rich stated earlier, you really need to just listen to each brand and decide which sounds best to you. It really is a matter of personal taste. Thats why we have so many different brands of speakers, receivers, etc. I have JBL's and prefer them to the Klipsch's.

    Hey,

I actually just went through this same debate a few months ago. I listened to both sets at best buy. They had them set up terribly, go figure...lol. Anyways, the best buy employees recommended the klipsch simply because they cost more. When I asked why, the simply said, "ummm, well they cost more and its more popular. You get what you pay for". So I adjust the receiver (yamaha) settings to my preferences and listened to them for about 30 min back and fourth.

Tough decision, but I ended up going with the JBL's due to the lower overall price and the fact that the sound just fine. The Klipsch highs where a bit louder, but the JBL's sounded cleaner. Mids where about equal. I did notice that the JBL Voice can sound a bit "muffled" at times. I didn't notice that until AFTER I made purchase and watched a few movies. Overall I am still happy with my decision. I can't say much about the Klipsch since I only got to hear them in store, but like I said, both sets of speakers sounded great considering they are lower-mid grade. I don't think you will be disappointed with either of them.

Like others said, best bet is to listen to them if you can.
