So, perhaps, everything is folded or smaller? Sorry, I missed that picture, I only saw the outside box.

Yeah, no problem, Steve.

It's hard for me to imagine how all that content that
is in the big U.S. box also fits in the smaller U.K. box.

I don't think any of that stuff can be folded. Would you
want it folded?

Something is very odd about the packaging. No way
it can hold all that stuff. I wonder if everything has been
miniaturized for the U.K. set. That would be a huge shame.

Not make the same materials available for both sides of
the Ocean?

Perhaps there is a reason why the U.K. set is selling for
more than half less than the U.S. version.

Well, the big box-o-junk is not part of the appeal of the set, the extra discs of supplements are that are apparently not available in the single disc releases. So if they shrink some of the pictures to make them fit in the box, I'm good with that.

Study the photos more carefully. You will notice that the size of the UK hardbound book is half the size of the US one. See how the posters and discs look bigger in comparison to the Book in the UK picture?

But as a DVD disc issued in the UK, the only way for the manufacturer to be 100% certain that it will comply with all local TVs and DVD players, is for it to be PAL encoded. I've never heard of a native UK or Australian DVD being issued as NTSC.
Around 2003-2004, Warners in Aust. brought out many NTSC discs, probably as a cost-cutting, and time-saving measure. Titles included "Brigadoon", "Show Boat", "Anchors Aweigh", "Gypsy", "The Music Man", "The Great Race", "The Harvey Girls", "Calamity Jane" and the 1933 "Little Women". The discs are distinguishable with a red triangle shape in the top right-hand corner of the cover art which reads 'NTSC Region 4'.

Here is an example.

Just wondering, does HTF get kick-backs to links to Amazon UK products? I'm getting ready to pre-order the UK set as the price is unbeatable and I'd like to do it through a HTF link.

Mark,

We really appreciate the thought.

No, we don't have anything set up for Amazon UK.

Go ahead and order it.

You know, I try and warn people that if you are going to preorder from
Amazon, do it as soon as I post the preorder link. In many cases, the
price jumps up within a day, a couple days, or longer.

So happens to be the case with this set. It just jumped up $20 to $89.95.

Now, most likely, it will drop in price again but there is never a guarantee.

Unbelievable what a bargain we are getting from the UK compared to what
this U.S. release is costing.

Just to be extra clear, we're pretty positive that the DVDs in this set are repacks from earlier releases right? All the new to this set content are on the blurays?

I have the old DVD set, I really only need to upgrade the films. If this is the case then I'll bite on the UK set.

People should check their preorder of the UK release as Amazon has reduced the pricing to the lower amount noted days ago.

Just received notice from Amazon UK this morning, as most of
you probably have as well.

There is a new release date for this set. Unfortunately, I don't
know if the set has been delayed or is being released ahead of
schedule. I just forgot what the original release date was overseas.

It's being delayed. The original delivery estimate they gave me was October 14-18th. Now they say November 4-8th. Looks like it's been delayed for 3 weeks.

Thanks, Mark.

Is the U.S. release also being delayed? When all is said and done
who is getting the earlier release on this?

The US set says it's now delayed until November 5, while the UK set says it's being released on October 28. Still a massive price differential at $90 vs. £18.5.

That price differential is killing me. But if I'm to take a big box o' stuff on this, I don't want the reduced size (and most likely reduced content) book.

That's why I'm waiting for the inevitable price drop. I got the Sound Of Music big box for $20 eventually, There's no reason to think that wont happen with this set which is arguably even more niche.
