There are many things that could lead to the color problems on the R2 discs including the encoding of the MPG2 files, and the authoring of the discs. Do we know if these color issues are on the actual masters?

An encoding/authoring glitch would change the colour of water in ONE scene (in the R2 edition of Thunderball) from red to blue? Isn't it more likely that somebody's state-of-the art re-colouring tools decided that water was blue and, thus, decided to change it? And isn't it equally likely that these same tools made errors elsewhere?

Is there any word on when the next wave of singles are coming out?

I picked up Goldfinger, Thunderball, The Spy Who Loved Me & FYEO at Circuit City this weekend for $7.99 each, which I thought was a good price. Interestingly, there was only one copy of FYEO left (and I almost missed it as it was tucked in with the Goldfinger discs). I decided to pass on Goldeneye and LTK, since only the Connery and Moore flicks will get repeated viewings by me.

I've been wanting to get some Bond movies for years -and I almost got a couple of the sets- but when I heard the singles were coming out, I decided to wait and just buy the Connery/Moore titles I wanted, and skip the others.

BTW- the single disc cases are just standard-size DVD cases, not slimline like those in the sets.

I picked up Goldfinger and Thunderball @ Sam's for $7.37 each.
Still waiting for Dr No and FRWL.

JonZ: Had no problems playing Goldfinger. Is there a particular spot that is troublesome for you (playing on a Sony here)?

I just finished FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE and I think it looked gorgeous. As great as the film is, I was always a tad underwhelmed by it and have never considered it one of my favorites of the series until seeing it this time. It was like a completely new revelation and I loved it!

No technical problems either, whatever they were.

I bought the brand new boxset of bond volume 3 a few weeks ago. I found a used copy of volume 1 and 2 for 24 bucks at the local gamestop store. I just need to get volume 4 now.

I have seen the bond movies over the years. I am no expert on them.. they seem to look great to me. trying to catch up on the movies that I had not seen.

my Wife surprised me with these last week for My Birthday, she got them thru Amazon's 50% off deal. I was never intending to pick these up, I have the previous sets. I was going to make my next Bond Purchase be in Hi Def, but since I own HD-DVD and not blue ray that would be tough. Boy am I glad I got these. It's almost like seeing the films for the First time (And DTS Too !)

I've watched the 1st four films in the Series and the quality was stunning. I have an upconverting Sony 995 Jukebox plugged into a 1360x768 Sammy LCD. And the quality of the image was top notch. To compare the previous night I watched The Getaway on my 360 addon, it looked ok but I though not much of an upgrade from the SD. What a difference Restoration makes. The Bond Films looked like the HD Versions and The Getaway the SD. The Image on Dr. No, From Russia, Goldfinger and Thunderball was so clear, the colors the most vibrant I've ever seen from the films. These set look so nice and the package is so sweet that even if they came out in HD and I had Blue ray I don't think I'd Upgrade, wel at least not till I got a 1080p Set.

Costco has all these James Bond Sets now priced at $44 and with a $10 coupon which is good through March 18th they become $34 per set. There are no limits on how may sets you can buy. I have no idea why these sets have become so cheap. Someone could probably make money by scooping up a bunch and ebaying them.

I have watched diamonds are forever, live and let die, man with the golden gun, spy who loved me, license to kill, living daylights. I have seen most of the series. I was missing about 5 or 6 including the new one.

I'm still trying to find out when the next group of single-disc DVD releases are coming out. No info on the MGM site.

If they had a brain cell working, they would ship huge Bond displays with Casino Royale (all versions & formats), all UE boxsets, and all UE single disc versions ala the Superman flood.

That and issue replacement UE discs for GE and AVTAK which were cropped to death...

There was also the color correction to the shot of Hong Kong harbor in You Only Live Twice. And of course, all the burnt-in subtitle changes to Octopussy, Living Daylights, Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, and Die Another Day.
