Sucking down 2.0 through iTunes as we speak. Taking the day off today (makeup for last Saturday's all-day server upgrade marathon at work) so I have time to play with the AppStore, and then go see Hellboy 2 this afternoon!!
it did the software, but now it's been trying to access the itunes store for awhile.
i can turn on the iphone but only to make an emergency call.
edit: well it seems the 2.0 didnt fully load as now my phone will only make an emergency call and the itunes 7.7 is locked out on apple.com so i can't redownload itunes.
Yeah, I'm sure there will be one of from that movie about Hitler in the Bunker before too long, sorry the name escapes me. And yeah I figured out you can change the link too. Too late =)
I still cant download the firmware legitly, but I did snarf the link from Macrumors before they closed the thread where it was being discussed. 16% at 60k ugh =( If I can get iTunes to grab it direct I will pay apple their $10 but if I download it here first I wont be able to get them the dough. Dilemma.
Still can't complete the upgrade process because of Apple's poor network performance.
I was really looking forward to the MLB At Bat application until I read that it’s really a subscription service and not an application. I still might get it since I’m a baseball junkie but I’m certain it’ll probably cost $14.99 for next season.
Between the slow and/or failed activations of new phones and the problems with reactivating phones after the 2.0 firmware update, today's events have to rank as a certifiable disaster for Apple, especially in the marketing department. At the very least they should have released 2.0 a week or more ago so they wouldn't be swamped today.
That's a great idea you have about releasing the update a week earlier. The odds are no one at Apple probably even thought of that one but it certainly makes a lot of sense.
As of right now I'm still trying to reactivate my phone, 3 hours and counting.
