Is it OK to hook DIRECTV audio through VCR and then into receiver? (1 Viewer)

My receiver has 3 audio inputs, one of which isn't working. So I only have 2 inputs for VCR, DVD, and satellite.

I can wire the satellite's audio through the VCR and then into the receiver. My question is: am I going to lose some sound qualityby using this method? If that's the case, I'd rather just hook the satellite into the receiver and forgo the VCR's audio hookup altogether (I don't really use it much anymore).

Any help would be appreciated.

Scott,

I've always run both audio and video from the sat box to vcr then from vcr to receiver. The only downside is having to turn on the vcr to watch satellite stuff even though I don't intend to record it. Some vcrs cause a bit of difference in the picture vs not having the vcr in the loop. I'd not call this degradation, just a slight difference in picture brightness. I've never noticed any sound degradation.
