Is it worth me trying to find a box that has a digital out, or get mine "fixed"? Becuase I have heard once it works... it sux anyways, and only works 5% of the time.

A digital output is not automatically synonymous with 5.1, Jesse. You will only get 5.1 (if at all) with premium movie channels. The rest will get at best two-channel surround sound via Dolby Pro Logic, just like with stereo analog connections.

I also have digital cable thru Adelphia with the SA 3100 STB. Wayne is correct, the only time you get 5.1 dolby is on certain HBO broadcasts, such as the Sopranos. I do not have HD yet, so I cannot comment.
