I'm the type of guy that probably has at least
a dozen programs in my startup all running at the
same time every time I start windows.

Question....

I keep 1 gig ram standard on my PC for startups
and the fact that I use a lot of audio/video/photo
editing software.

Now....

My next computer I am about to buy I am considering
going 2 GIGS of ram.

Will all this extra ram help gain resources for
all the startup programs I run?

Or....

Does windows XP stop dedicating RAM for startup
programs at a certain point so no matter how much
ram I add it won't really matter?

Look forward to your response.

It wont really affect it, the programs should still use the same amount of ram. I have 1GB in this box (recently upgraded from 512) and winxp uses the same amount of memory for my 17 startup apps. It will help boost overall system performance, but it wont cut down on the use of ram for startup apps. In fact, it might use more sice winxp will notice that you have more ram, and will then allow the apps to use more physical ram as opposed to the swap file.
