when on the internet, is it possible for you pc to have it's dial up number changed by a "dubious" adult sites? For example: I'm in the UK and my friends son says that whilst on then net , the pc was "tricked" into dialling 0906 (£1 a minute)premium rate numbers whilst surfing. he syas it was an "adult site" that did it. is this possible?

I've seen dodgy sites try to download and install 'dialer' apps that could do exactly what you describe. Obviously I've never actually accepted them so I can't say if they add a new Dialup Networking service or just change the one you already have. Either way, theoretically the next time you dial up you could be using their lines at extortionate rates.
