Hello everyone, I'm new here and I thought it would be fitting for my first thread to show you what got me interested in this forum. I'm looking to build a HT/Game room in the future but wanted to plan it extensively before sinking the first nail.

Here is a sketch of my floorplan.

The rough dimensions at this point are 31x19 although this can be easily modified.

Not shown is an equipment room which will ajoin the room on the left wall (facing forward.) At this point I'd like to figure out the best acoustic design for the room to eliminate standing waves as much as possible. I also produce music and may do light vocal recording so it's important that the 2 channel audio be clear and even over all frequencies. I plan on putting a shelving unit for books/media/vinyl on the back wall to fight reflections. As much as is possible 90 degree corners will be avoided.

Once I have a floorplan that I like I will move onto the next phases. I'll select equipment and estimate building expenses. Finally I'll draw up wiring diagrams and plan for future upgrades as much as possible.

I welcome any feedback or criticism from you guys, especially on the acoustical merits of the plan so far.
