What's new

If you could release 10 shows on DVD for 2008 what would they be? (1 Viewer)

My list is short, but I really want:

1. The State: The troupe's site says that the whole set is done, with a ton of extras, deleted sketches and commentaries, but MTV just decided not to release it.
2. Ed: yes, yes and yes. I'd buy it the day it came out.
3. Wonder Years. But come on.

I second that emotion. What the (bleep) is wrong with Warner Brothers anyway??

This show was on NBC for nine years. I watched every episode faithfully. My ex wife missed taping it for me once, and that NEVER happened again, after we "discussed" her failure to do so. That's how serious I was and still am about this show.

The fact that this was on for nine years apparently means nothing to WB. Somehow they don't think it will sell. They've been sure to release things like Tom & Jerry and Roots and North & South, all of which I have, incidentally.

Night Court WILL sell, Warner Brothers. LISTEN to your customers for a change!!!!!!!!

More than 10 but:

The Invisible Man (short lived 1975 series)
Here's Lucy
The Lucy Show
Search
Barnaby Jones
Ghost and Mrs Muir
New Adventures Of Gilligan(animated)
Jeannie (animated)
Sealab 2020
Mr. Ed
Lost Honeymooners season sets with unreleased trip to Europe shows

I'd continue:

The Partridge Family

Malcolm In The Middle
Dragnet
Green Acres

I can't come up with ten because there are only a couple left that I really want.

Max Headroom
Strange Luck
Swift Justice
Taxi (Seasons 4 and 5)

And the rest of NYPD BLUE.

Oh...and WKRP in Cincinatti (the COMPLETE series!!!)

I guess if you count each season that's more than ten.

I live in a fantasy land if I think any of these have a chance, don't I?

I wish some really obscure titles would make their way to dvd in 2008 like...

Gloria
She's the Sheriff
A Touch Of Grace
One in a Million

It's a Living

For other shows already started on dvd, I would like the following to continue...

The Facts Of Life
Laverne & Shirley
Gimme a Break!
Kate & Allie
Too Close For Comfort
Hart to Hart

I'm really surprised that "thirtysomething" hasn't made its way to DVD yet, especially with the exposure that Patricia Wettig and Ken Olin have gotten on "Brothers & Sisters", as well as Timothy Busfield on "West Wing," "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and directing on "Lipstick Jungle."

I haven't seen "thirtysomething" since it's original run, but would love to see it again.

I guess this thread's for 2009 now, so here's some shows I would LOVE to see make it onto DVD this year (though I'm not holding my breath):

(in no particular order)

Jake 2.0
Batman (1966) (yeah, right!)
Have I Got News For You
Room 101
King of the Hill S7+
The Practice S2 (2)+
Bob & Margaret S1, S3+
Cheers CS

Only 1 made it to dvd in 2008 from my list and that is "Kate & Allie: Season 5".

So here is my revised list for 2009...I will begin by reiterating one that seems to be very popular on people's lists.

1) The Lucy Show: Season 1
2) Gimme a Break!: Season 3
3) Kate & Allie: Season 6
4) Hart to Hart: Season 3
5) One in a Million (one season wonder w/Shirley Hemphill)
6) The Facts Of Life: Season 4
7) Laverne & Shirley: Season 5
8) It's A Living: Season 1
9) All in the Family: Season 7
10) Hazel: Season 2

Forgot to included "What's Happening Now!!" Season 2 which is at the top of my list.

Well, as everyone can see my list didn't turn out too well. First of all I assumed my favorite show of all time - THE FUGITIVE - would continue to be released and we all know how that turned out. I also assumed we'd finish VTTBOTS and that didn't happen. Fortunately, it looks like we will see it completed this year. And of course I bombed on assuming we'd see more FLIPPER released.

As for my actual 10 wish list releases for last year, I only saw 2 come to fruition, and one of those was mangled by CBS/Paramount (MY THREE SONS). So that leaves me with a grand total of one show - THE DONNA REED SHOW. I'm grateful for that one, but boy I thought I'd see a better percentage than that. Oh well, so much for my skills of prognostication.

Gary "I'm not going to even try again this year after that debacle" O.

Yikes! I didn't even realize I had updated my list. It's even worse than the first one!!!

Gary "wow, I really bombed out big time" O.
