IGN have given ICO a score of 9.4, which is great as i was gonna get it anyway. Silent Hill2 got 9.0 and with NHL2002 getting 9.2 that's a nice trio of PS2 games within a week that's worth getting...not often i've said that before now :)

Is this game (ICO) really that good? Has anyone played it yet?

I've played the demo about a hundred times.
It rules.

ICO really is that good. Not just gameplay, but visually.
I heard that ICO is pretty short though, and since they removed the language bonus (beat the game once and you don't understand anything anyone says, but the second time you do), there is no replay value other than liking the game that much. Then again, I conquered the Bouncer in less time than it takes to beat ICO once, so that makes it worth it.

ICO is stunning.
You just don't want to leave it's world.

The language bonus wouldnt have worked well anyhow. Yorda speaks about 5 lines throughout the whole game. Plus the majority of her dialogue can be 'assumed' anyhow.
Playing through it again to get clarification on 5 lines of dialogue would not be rewarding.
Incredible game though, from start to finish.

You are a guy who can run, jump and attack. You don't have any problems getting around. But the princess is just a little less nimble than Ico. You have to find ways to get her through this maze of a castle. All the while defending her from these shadow creatures. It's kind of like a big puzzle. To those who didn't know, there is a sequel in the works.

At videogames.com there is a review of it. I suggest looking at that.
Let me also say that in ICO you get one attack with one weapon, one character, one solid objective for the whole game, one simple storyline, no special abilities, no super jumping, nothing. And yet it is SO GREAT!
