:)

ok,

it is 12am Wednesday, Day 1.

My quick/view, Yumbo/View whatever.

Playing this this afternoon (first viewing) was pretty creepy with opening, and cryptic menu images - stark and crisp.

So much so, I was forced to wait until dark to watch it.

The opening made the movie appear to have so much going for it.

And I'll say this now, you will appreciate that this is a bare bones release as IT ADDS TO THE VIEWING ATMOSPHERE.

freaked and creeped out!

How does it look?
OK. Nothing great. Blue filters etc. Mood I guess.

How does it sound?
OK. The DTS mix is a bit low. Some freaky ambient noises (helped by my usual lizard sounds in the room - talk about spooky!).

How's the movie?
Starts great, changes tone, then reverts to formula. A few mysteries.

"Don't watch this" is the deleted scenes montage - great filler, but dry more or less, no pun intended.

"Look here" is the trailer montage: Ringu, Catch Me If You Can (16x9), 8 Mile.

that's it.

I now ask myself AGAIN - should I get the original?
YES - if only to possibly answer some questions about the plot in the remake.

Horses?
Why kill?

thar yoo go.

THE RING. I have my phone of the hook.jk.

Well being familiar with both the film and Chris' posts made it rather easy for me to understand. ;)

I'm still on the fence with this as a purchase even though I really enjoyed it at the theater. Not sure if this film is beyond the occassional rental or not. However, I am leaning toward a sight unseen purchase of Ringu just because of the word of mouth on it.

I believe Mr. Kleist will be here momentarily to correct you on something. ;)

An easy purchase for me. I found it to not only be spooky and compelling but also very well done. I found subsequent viewings to be quite enjoyable, as with many upper tier horror films.

geez,

a movie like this does cause one to think.
Is my topic a spoiler?

damn - someone familiar with my posts. what has the world come to? that reminds me, there are straight-jackets involved for those who tried to warn you. drat, no lizards in movie.

watch it and see what happens.

it's a review, an early one.

things shouldn't have to be spelt out all the time, for everyone.

this isn't a "oh, thanks Ron. I'll have to pick this one up now. I wouldn't have had it not been for your review" type deal.

chill, be happy...before you die, you'll see THE RING.

lol. and to test some features :D

um,

I hope so. No point duplicating posts, only tapes. ;)

that would be boring, no? :b

there's something exciting about copying tapes each time.

I'll stop now. :emoji_thumbsup:

I'm throwing this in here, and I'm ready for a spank!

I would recommend The Ring over RINGU!

There, I've said it. Having watched The Ring, then watching Ringu, I found that the remake was a better show in almost ever regard but one... which I wont reveal as not to ruin the film for those who havn't seen it.

The remake goes in a much better direction than the original, and the group of us found RINGU to be flat, and dare I say, boring?

I recommend getting the ring on blind purchase, especially if your a horror/SUSPENSE/MYSTERY fan. I highly suggest you rent RINGU first.

May my pummeling from RINGU fans begin...
