i can't get my tivo download (1 Viewer)

i'm trying to download software version 2.5, so i can use both tuners in my hughes dtv tivo unit. every single time i force a call it cames back "failed, call interupted" even when (on my end, at least) the call was not interupted. this is after it says "downloading" for over a hour. i've been doing this for 2 days and i'm starting to get really pissed off. when i make a test call everything works fine. what's up?

how long does it usually take to download?

A software update takes around 20 minutes to download if the modem connects at its maximum data rate. If your call is taking over an hour, the modem is connecting at a lower speed. You may have a noisy phone line.

Are you using a wireless modem? These often add noise to the line and cause the modem to connect at a lower speed. You might try temporarily running a phone wire from the TiVo to the jack for this one call.

Else, maybe the wiring in your house or that particular jack is noisy. You might try temporarily running the phone wire to a different jack.

Also, if you have call waiting disable it.

Also if you have call waiting, or anyone picks up a phone this will happen. Also "downloading" may also include uncompressing the files. The red light on the front panel will turn orange when it is working on phone calls or house keeping.
