Legally Blonde was fun, but Election is a much better movie and Cruel Intentions is way up there along with, oh, Liar of the White Worm at the top of the guilty pleasure heap. Reese Witherspoon is an excellent actress and her movie choices have been right on the mark.

This is a question for anyone who has seen the movie. Is this movie approriate for a 7 year old? My daughter loves movies that have female leads (ie-Madeline, Wizard of Oz).
Thanks!

I thought the film was okay, but I thought Reese's facial cheeks were going to explode from smiling so much.

I don't think it is. There is a lot of
sexual talk in the film from masturbation
to sperm donars to talk about guy's peckers.
Might be appropriate for older teens, but
it is appropriately rated PG13.

Awww, come on...is that a bad thing?
You know, if I truly like something,
I talk it up. I try to write with the
same enthusiasm I have for the movie itself.
I don't write bullshit. I write what I
feel. When I really enjoy something, I
get chatty.
Trust me, I am not writing these reviews
to satisfy the studios. If you want to
read a real bad review, search for ANGEL EYES
and read my review on that. OOF!

After Ron's review I am definately going to at least rent this. You should really check out Election, I did buy that one sight unseen and have watched it many times. This movie deserved much more attention than it received. I haven't seen Cruel Intensions yet, but so far I have liked all the Resse Witherspoon movies that I have seen.

Ron's just telling the simple truth: Legally Blonde is a great film, and its success has made Reese Witherspoon a bona fide star. It was one of the funniest films I saw this summer.
Besides, I have a soft spot for any film featuring Jennifer Coolidge (a/k/a "Stifler's mom"). She cracks me up every time.
FULL DISCLOSURE: I'm married to a blonde graduate of Harvard Law School. She doesn't have a dog and she doesn't wear pink, but she sure as hell knows which shoes were last year's model! Link Removed

Ron, just in case it's not been made abundantly clear, you really should rent ELECTION! IMO, it's Reese's best performance. It's also one of the best American films from 1999. Have you seen Citizen Ruth? Same director; better film.

I can't wait for this to show up. My wife and I saw it in the theaters and she has several friends that are lawyers that she can't wait to have them see when they come to visit in the middle of November.
Graet film. Saw it in the theaters, can't wait to see it at home.

I do agree that Ron tends to be like "BEST DISC EVER!!!! WITH A CHERRY ON TOP!!!!" with the stuff he reviews, but then again he's said that he specifically reviews discs he looks forward to; e.g. discs he knows he will probably like. So, whatever

I thought this movie looked kinda lame when I saw the trailers in the theater. However, after reading Ron's review I'll definatly check it out. I was actually planning on renting it anyway when it came out simply because Reese is in it. After watching Election I thought she was awesome. I'd like to add to everyone else's posts by saying RENT ELECTION!!
Later,
Marshall

One of the things I can definitely say about Ron is that if he likes it he says so, if he hates it he says so. No ifs and or buts about him.
Personally, I wasn't going to even bother with this title but since Ron liked it I will give it a spin. His taste in movies runs along my tastes. Your mileage and taste may vary.

Who knows, maybe Ron will give It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World a spin now (it's a great disc after all).
This is a sweet little movie that's better than it has any right to be. Something interesting is that I work at a law firm (still a college student), and the partner I work for was actually in the same theater watching it when I was! She was sitting in the row right in front of me, but I was too busy watching Reese to notice.

I haven't seen many films this Summer other
than the big guns. Didn't get to see AMERICAN
PIE 2 or some of the other comedies released
in the past few months.
So, I found it really refreshing to see
Legally Blonde. It was a very light,
extremely clever comedy. Most of all, I thought
Reese Witherspoon added such a touch of sparkle
to this movie that you really need to see to
understand.
It's just one of those really lighthearted
comedies that has a lot of heart to it.
...and yes, if I hated the movie I would have
said so. MGM understands how I review movies and
even told me to blatantly advertise any movie of
theirs I think sucks. I think that is pretty cool
of MGM to tell me. I'm really happy for the studio
that they have a hit like this.

Legally Blonde is definitely a great fun flick. No, it is not a masterpiece like Casablanca or Raiders of the Lost Ark, but it's one of those fun light-hearted comedies that really know how to tickle the funny bone.
I'd say it's definitely worth seeing. If, on the other hand, you tend to hate light-hearted comedies in general, you might not like it.

I'm with you, Ron! After I read some glowing early reviews, a few friends and I saw this at a matinee. I gave it four stars (out of 5) and I still think it's one of the best comedies to come out this year.
Glad to hear that the DVD is strong as well. As always, thanks for the scoop.

Thanks for the review Ron. This was one of the best films pf pure entertainment that I have seen this year.
One question: Is it true that Reese is completely naked on the commentary track?
