How to stop ads from popping in all the time? (1 Viewer)

How do you stop ads from popping in on the computer. The only thing that seems to help is deleting the cookies and temporary internet files, but that's only a short term solution. I especially hate waking up in the morning and finding a dozen windows opened by ads popping in. Any ideas?

There's a program called POW which closes pop up ads (and pop-under ads) when they open. The one caveat is that you have to teach it. Once it knows what to look for, it'll close the windows the moment they open. Check it out at http://www.analogx.com

Currently, I am using Popup Killer. You can download it from http://www.download.com
Sometimes it works a little too well...but you can disable it on the run.
