I played with some of the setting I found in this forum: http://www.avsforum.com/forum/167-p...signia-42-plasma-ns-42p650a11-best-buy-7.html (I tried to join THAT forum but they think im a spammer?) but they don't look that good. It's especially tough with video games. Maybe because its 6 years old and has gotten a lot of use? I realize its only 720p but I still think I ought to be able to make it look a little better.

One thing I don't know if it matters or not is that HDMI calibration thing. I went to it not knowing what it was. Not sure if that could have messed it up.

You need a calibration disc such as the Disney WOW disc. Follow the instructions. It allows you to set the correct contrast, brightness, color, tint and sharpness settings.
