I can honestly say I never imagined I'd be posting this but...are there any hi-res country stuff out there?

Older remasters are better like Hank Sr and the like.

Must be a CD/SACD mix, or a DVD with DTS/DD tracks.

Turning someone onto hires so they'll demo it here but we're buying it for them so they can take it home so it'll have to play on a regular CD/DVD player also.

I know not all SACD's are playable in a regular CD player.

Thanks

There is no "Hank Sr".

There's just Hank and Hank Jr.

Also, there's no "the like". :)

There are some great Alison Krauss and Union Station SACDs if you include bluegrass. I think George Strait, Nickel Creek, Dolly Parton (several) and others are out there.

www.sa-cd.net is a good place to look. :)

LOL, Henry Gale.

PaulDA's SA-CD.net link is excellent.

And like Lee said, if you broaden to bluegrass there's other goodness including the DVD-A of Bela Fleck's The Bluegrass Sessions. I (still!) haven't spent enough time with my copy, but I understand the John McEuen, Jimmy Ibbotson, Jennifer Warnes album Nitty Gritty Surround is supposed to be an excellent, innovative DVD-A from AIX Records.

Since it's the Holiday season, the DTS CD of Vince Gill's awesome Breath Of Heaven deserves a mention, too.
