Yeah, yeah I know...already tried the "just buy a new 'puter" route...

Anyway, my niece was short sighted when she bought her Asus to use in college. The school offered 9 different laptops and she chose this tiny little eeePC that didn't have HDMI. Granted, when she bought it, only two of the 9 had HDMI anyway...

Anybody have experience with these things?

No, not necessarily that one. Any of them. Basically she was given a new-ish 24" monitor and it doesn't have VGA. Simplest route, if they work, would be one of those.

I can't see why it wouldn't work; Apple has used USB for monitors for ages now. Given that it is using the DisplayPort protocols, it should actually work very well. The only limitation I can see is at the computer end, as the Asus eeePC is a netbook and may not have a particularly robust GPU.

I don't think she is overtly concered over how good it will look. I think she is more interested in using a real keyboard/mouse while sitting back from her desk writing papers/homework.

The campus is completely paperless(except for mail...and you can opt-in for "everything email")

It should work for that. Let me know if you run into any problems.
