Help! sony 4ES decoding problem with DTS-ES. (1 Viewer)

Greetings! Can anyone offer more information on this firmware update for the DA5ES. Specifically, the service bulletin number would be helpful. I live in Vancouver British Columbia and Sony Of Canada is saying that they cannot locate this update. I too am experiencing the DTS ES Discrete issues on the New Line DVD's and would very much like to resolve this as soon as possible. I know the service department here can get the bulletin from Sony of USA if I can provide more info. The DA5ES is an amazing unit and I would love to get this issue fixed.

it was exclusively Denon decoders which had problems with flagged material.

Dang! My DA4ES' series number falls within that range (strange, because I got it only a month ago)! Any idea what the flash upgrade is supposed to do? My receiver works fine with respect to DD-EX/DTS-ES...

I'd like to hear an answer to this also...

The flash upgrade is for the following:
STRDA5ES all units.
STRDA4ES S/N8800001 through S/N8805418.
STRDA7ES S/N8800001 through S/N8802514.

Ok then how do we go about getting this flash upgrade? Also where and who do we contact about more info on this?

Oh one more ?. Is Sony trying to keep this upgrade hush, hush or are going public with this upgrade?

Any light you can share on this Will or anybody else who knows please fill free to tell all. I'm sure everyone here with a 4ES & 5ES want to get their units fix ASAP thx.

Both of them said that there was no such upgrade for the 4ES at this time. They told me to go to www.sel.sony.com to see when an upgrade might become available in the future. But if someone else happens to know more about this than those 2 sony reps then please do speak up . Thanks!

Unfortunately, the Sony people you talked to provided a link that just passes us through to SonyStyle.com - which doesn't even mention the "4ES" on that site. :frowning:

Once you get there, select:
Home audio, then amplifier, then STR-DA4ES
