HELP Nasty Hum from Sub (1 Viewer)

I have a JBL PSB 12 sub that is making a nasty LOUD hum. It's only about 2 months old...:frowning: Has anyone else had this problem? If so is it common? It was working fine till yesterday. Now when I power it on it just gets a humming.

If this suddenly started happening, check your sub cable. Sounds like it pulled loose.

I don't know if this applies here, but i've seen this mentioned in my SVS documentation, and in a lot of SVS threads. It seems that some ground loops in the power supply can cause the sub to hum. they recommend getting a 3 prong -> 2 prong power plug adatper (available anywhere for less than a $1, i think) for your sub amp's power cord. that eliminates the ground loop.

I had this happen, and it was a loose cable..

Thanks guys for your thoughts. I checked the cable first and it was tight. I then hooked it up to a different outlet and it still had a loud hum. This was without being hooked up to the rec. at all. So now it's in the shop, should be about 2 weeks I was told.
