HD questions? (newbie to this area) (1 Viewer)

I have few questions about HDTV?

I'm about to purchase an HDTV tv. At first, I didn't plan on getting HD for a little while, but the more and more I see it, the more and more I want it (especially for sports).

Here are my questions. If I were to get HD through DirecTV, would I get my locals in HD using their oval antenna or do you still have to use another antenna? I thought about just getting a STB to get locals OTA but for the price of one of those boxes, I could just about get a Huges e-86. Wouldn't this be the better route to go?

Also, I haven't seen any information for HD through Comcast in my area. Any Dallas people happen to know when and if we will get it?

One more time, is there anything else I need to budget for besides:

-DirecTV HD Receiver
-Oval Antenna
-Misc. Cables

or

-STB
-RadioShack Antenna
-Misc. Cables

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

I am in Dallas and this is what we do:

We have a Samsung Directv receiver (seen here http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...=0&cc=01&avf=N )

We have a Mitsubishi 48' HDTV Set

We have a Antenna for local broadcast

We have the DTV HDTV antenna.

Awesome quality, the Cowboy game is awesome even though they are losing :frowning:

So does your regular antenna go through your Samsung box or does it go straight to your tv because you have an HD built in tv?

No

The TV is a HDTV Ready Mistu, not built it.

The ANT connection goes to the Samsung box
