HD DVD - When? (1 Viewer)

All this talk about HD-DVD and Blue Ray but no one has mentioned really when the first units and software will be available?

Started to wonder if we should put off some of our movie purchases if HD DVD will be showing up in the next 4-6 monhts.

BluRay will be with the roll out of the PS3. Not sure on the timing of HD DVD. MSoft recently announced that the Xbox 360 would not include a HD DVD player. WBros, a main supporter of HD DVD has also just announced that they will be releasing material on BluRay until HD DVD is released.

So to summarize...
HD content will be released with the roll out of the PS3. This content will be in the BluRay format. The HD-DVD format is essentially dead (IMO).

Don't forget that the initial cost of the new players and software will probably be very high. Count on a 6-12 month wait after the first players hit the street for prices to fall to sane levels.

with this new format do we have to get all new DVD's that are in this format?? if so How long till they start making HDDVD's??

if so will are Old DVD's work in these new DVD players??

HD-DVD wil be out in Japan in December. Old DVDs will be backwards compatible.
