Brady Bunch, Star Trek - Done

Leave It To Beaver, Cheers - Almost done

Simpsons - Once 8th season is out I will have what I consider the best of the series.

Hopefully Growing Pains will make it to the 3rd season. That is as far as I want.

I really want season 2 & 3 of Happy Days as well.

The biggest one I want and the one I am most concerned may not be released in the way I remember is the Wonder Years.

This old chestnut should have kept right on going!

I can think of three more titles of favourite (classic) tv series to be included on my list:

TOPPER (1950s)

THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD (in Region 1)

THE GREEN HORNET

I like Wezzo's code, but I'm only going to limit it to a few shows.

None of my must-haves have been released in their entirety. :frowning: Pete and Pete almost did but I'm not sure what's up with that one.

:D My Name is Earl (Will be up to date in just over a month)
:D The Office (U.S. - Not quite up to date but will be in just over a month)
:) The Adventures of Pete and Pete
:) Seinfeld
1/2 The Simpsons
1/2 Survivor - My #1 show. This isn't quite halfway actually, and it still bothers me that they've been doing them out of order.

:frowning: The Cosby Show
:angry: The Wonder Years

So far I'm pretty satisfied but of course there are a few exceptions:
These are the ones I have now:
* The A-Team (1 more season to go)
* Incredible Hulk (About time this one started to come out)
* Knight Rider (Probably my favorite growing up)
* Dukes Of Hazzard (1 more to go + TV reunion movies)
* Greatest American Hero
* MacGyver (1 more season + TV movies)
* Miami Vice (I wish season 3 would hurry up)
* V: The Series

Getting soon:
* Battlestar Galactica (Both new & old series)
* Buck Rogers

The series I still want that are not released yet:
* Airwolf (Season 2+)
* StreetHawk
* Chips

Yes, amazingly enough.

Completed:
Absolutely Fabulous
The Avengers (Diana Rigg episodes)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
The Dick Van Dyke Show
Friends
I Love Lucy

Incomplete (to date):
All in the Family
Bewitched
Dark Shadows (almost done!)
The Doris Day Show
The Mary Tyler Moore Show

There are many other shows I own, but those are my ABSOLUTE FAVORITES, and I must say that I've been very lucky in their DVD releases.

This is kind of my Top 10. And I'm very happy.

Star Trek TOS. Yep! I just need to get Season 1 box and I"m done. Life is good. :)
Monty Python's Flying Circus. Yep. I have that box and a couple of other episodes not included in that box on VHS.
Mystery Science Theater 3000. Slowly these are coming out and I'm buying them. All are available from traders in pretty good quality overall.
Red Dwarf. Yep. I have all 8 sets.
Sanford & Son. Yep. I only have on VHS. :frowning:
Little House on the Prairie. Yep. I'm up to season 4. Overall nice quality in these.
All in the Family. Nearly all out. I only have the series on VHS.
Twilight Zone. Yep. I have them only on VHS.
Kung Fu. Yep. I only have season 1.
Seinfeld. Nearly all out. I'm up to season 4. I'm dying to get 5 & 6.

Others...
Flipper. Maybe we'll get these soon. I have 3 eps recorded off Nick. :frowning:
Mr. Wizard's World. Many available off his web site for a lot of $$$. I have them on my 2 Buy list. I have a few recorded off Nick. A series set would rock MY WORLD. :)
You Can't Do That on Television. Still not out for some insane reason. I have the whole series in little bitty window form and a few is darn good quality from a guy named Barth.
Salute Your Shorts. Still no. I have all downloaded and burned on DVDs. They look like crap.
Gomer Pyle. No. But it seems real likely.

Okay, my absolute ABSOLUTE favorite, My So-Called Life, gets a ... :D

My other absolute favorites get the sad face.... :frowning:

FAMILY TIES - where the *bleep* is it?! It's not often I love a *popular* *hit* show, and when I do, it's *still* not a definite DVD release? What the *bleepity bleep*!

DARIA - no, I'm not content with a few eps & the movies, one of them edited! I want season sets with all the original music intact thankyouverymuch. Is friggin' MTV going to release everything *but* the best show they ever produced? The one that was actually *intelligent*? Silly question. It's MTV.

FLASH FORWARD - obscure short-lived family-comedy starring now-indie respected actors Ben Foster (Freaks & Geeks, Six Feet Under) and Jewel Staite (Firefly). Never gonna make it to DVD. Not a chance in hell.

THE DAYS - short-lived family-drama that aired on ABC for, like, 6 eps, I think, before getting cancelled. Packed in more character/story development, realism and heart in those few eps than many a show that lasts for several seasons. Never gonna make it to DVD.

PREY - stars Adam Storke from The Stand, and Debra Messing from Will & Grace - yes, before she did obnoxious comedies, she starred in smart, suspenseful, sci-fi like this. Now isn't she a big enough star to get her earlier, far superior series released?! Sheesh.

PERFECT STRANGERS - see my Family Ties rant above.

.... partial releases that will probably never be finished:

JEM & The Holograms - damn you Rhino! Crapping out on us with one volume left to go! Sabotaging your own sales with ridiculously high prices and then letting your license expire...and not even notifying fans until pressed for answers!

ONCE & AGAIN - damn you Disney! Announcing the last season's release date, releasing artwork and apparently even recording commentaries and then...nuthin'!

MICKEY MOUSE CLUB - okay maybe this can't qualify as an absolute favorite, since I wasn't alive in the '50s to actually watch the show, but damn I really want all of them on DVD. We got "Week One" (5 measly eps) as part of their Disney Treasures Line... oh boy! Only 255 to go! :P I highly doubt it.

Yes, I'm very happy to have completed all seasons of FRIENDS
htf_images_smilies_banana.gif

and No, I am desperately anticipating SCARECROW & MRS. KING!!!

After that, there's other shows I currently have completed/mostly completed and shows that I'd like to start collecting in the future, but I wouldn't call them my "absolute favorites"

Almost all of my top 5 "favorites" (including new favorites: Shield, Huff, Deadwod, Carnivale, Rome, Arrested Development, Scrubs, Dead Like Me ) have been released, or are still coming out:

-Moonlighting
-Frasier
-Sopranos
-Cheers
-Northern Exposure

There are a lot of other shows I'm buying and would like to see more season sets continue to be released. Only a few of my favorites, like Larry Sanders, Taxi and Dream On and caught in limbo. And, of course, there are other shows I'd like to buy that haven't come out yet. However, overall, things are good.

If someone had told me in the mid-eighties that this many of my favorite shows would be available on a compact, watchable format -- I would have laughted outloud.

I suspect as older series wrap up, as many are doing, we'll see more and more classic shows from the fifties, sixties and seveneties come out.
