OK, forgive me for being slow, but wouldn't the "Complete Patrick MacNee Avengers" simply be "The Complete Avengers" - him having appeared in all the episodes?
I don't see the availability of this set as a reason not to buy the Emma Peel set. I wanted the Emma Peel set because I specifically did not want either the Cathy Gayle or Tara King episodes. I got the Peel set for under $90. The availability of the Steed set at over $300 might be good news for Avengers completists, but for Diana Rigg fans it is just one more reason to snap up the Peel Megaset, which represents the series at its best, for less than 1/3 the price.
I have the Homicide Complete Series set, and that's a wonderful display package. Everything else I bought one at a time to eventually get the whole series like Xfiles, Millennium, Babylon5 and a whole bunch of one season sets like Kingpin, Nowhere Man, Odyssey 5, Space Above and Beyond, etc.
I also have that Unsolved mysteries ultimate box, but that might not count since it's a collection of the best of eps, but I can't think of a better way to archive that series so I went ahead and bought it.
Complete Series in one box: 1) The Tick - The Entire Series (2001 non-annimation; 9 episodes) 2) Firefly: The Complete Series (14 episodes) 3) Threshold: The Complete Series (13 episodes) 4) Adventures Of Brisco County, Jr., The Complete Series (27 episodes) 5) Police Squad!: The Complete Series (6 episodes)
Complete Series individually: 1) Star Trek The Next Generations (7 Seasons) 2) Star Trek The Original Series (3 Seasons) 3) Sledge Hammer: The Complete Series (2 Seasons) 4) Roswell: The Complete Series (3 Seasons)
Goal = Complete Series - individually: 1) She Spies - The Complete First Season 2) JAG: Season 1 & 2 3) NCIS: Season 1 & 2 4) Battlestar Galactica (2004) Season 1 & 2 5) Stargate Atlantis: Season 1 (Season 2 pre-ordered) 6) Numb3rs: Season 1 & 2 7) The Unit: Season 1
There is several I bought of complete Series sets... most of which were single season series... a couple of multiple seasons though....
Multiple Seasons: - Spiderman: the '67 Collection (3 Seasons) - Sports Night (2 Seasons)
Single Season: - Alien Nation - American Gothic - Dinotopia: The Series - Eerie Indiana - The Ellen Show - Firefly - The Flash - Good Morning World - Kindred: The Embrace - Kingdom Hospital - Kolchak: The Night Stalker - Lone Gunmen - Miracles - Night Stalker - Planet of the Apes - Point Pleasant - Tabitha - V: The Series - Wonderfalls
Police Squad Homicide - Complete Series The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. The Prisoner - Megaset Dark Shadows - Remake series Barney Miller - don't know if we'll ever get any more Tru Calling - both seasons
I feel your pain. Where's that "Serenity 2" announcement already? The series is still selling like hotcakes over at Amazon, and the movie's tracking well there too; the audience for this has done nothing but grow since the series came out on DVD. But I digress....
This has been a big couple of months for me for complete series sets, starting with "Get Smart" in mid-November, then the complete "Dick Van Dyke" and most recently I picked up the complete "Six Feet Under" at Best Buy's 1-day HBO sale on Christmas Eve. I'm not counting the complete-in-one-season stuff like "Police Squad" or the many things I've collected and completed via individual season releases such as "Buffy," "Angel," "Homicide," etc.
I seem to have missed out on the complete "M*A*S*H" set -- I was already planning on buying so much during November and December (to say nothing of all the things I bought that I *wasn't* planning on buying, but couldn't pass up at the price), that I thought I'd wait till DDD's next 20%-off sale in June. I snoozed. I lost. Oh well. I have plenty of new stuff to keep me busy for a long time anyway!
I Love Lucy and Macgyver so far. I will have Bewitched, I Dream Of Jeannie and CSI when they hurry up and finish up these sets, I am current on all of them. I also would like Three's Company, Leave It To Beaver, and The Andy Griffith Show, etc if they would put them on sale.
I've bought quite a few of the complete series sets, with a couple on my wish list:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Chosen Collection Sex & the City: Complete Series Gift Set Friends: The One with All the Seasons (wooden box set) M*A*S*H: The Martinis & Medicine Collection Homicide - Life on the Street: Complete Series Megaset Alias - Complete Series (Rambaldi cube) Six Feet Under: Complete Series Get Smart: Complete Series (On Order)
Wish List:
Twilight Zone - Complete Definitive Series set Emma Peel Megaset Monty Python Flying Circus Megaset
Just a thought: does listing single-season TV show really count, for the purposes of this thread? Whilst technically correct, since that single-season is the complete series, I get the distinct impression that the idea behind the thread was really those mega-boxsets re-released after the individual season sets were released. Not sure if collecting the individual seasons as they were released, where there is no "megabox" thereafter, is included either -- in which case I'd add ST:TNG and ST: DS9 to my list. (For me, my 7 seasons of West Wing doesn't count since I didn't get the megabox.)
Also, what about shows where there was only ever a single release that included the whole series? My case in point is Sports Night, where both seasons were included in the solitary release -- i.e. there were no individual season releases.
